I’ve gotten a few questions about the feeders so I wanted to provide an update now that I’ve been using them for about 3 months. These are the Microchip Connect feeders made by @surepetcareusa which are solid, and I’ve added accessories such as the top plate and stands made by @slofe3d The feeders have been a huge help as all 3 of my kitties are on different diets and portions! The feeder will only open for the kitty assigned to it via their microchip, and each can now eat at their own pace. Before the feeders, Kohler🐾 would snarf all of his food immediately and then go looking for leftovers in Ciri⚔️ or Hinata’s bowls. This wasn’t a problem with Ciri as she usually eats most of her food right away too, but BabyBruh is a grazer and will eat a little bit at a time, wander off and come back later only to find his leftovers had been eaten by Kohler. This meant that Kohler was gaining weight, but BabyBruh’s weight was not changing and feeling slightly low considering his body size and age. Now that each is getting their correct portion, BabyBruh has definitely made some gains and Kohler is gradually slimming back to his ideal weight! The feeders have some quirky traits, but overall they work well for us. Ooh furriends we are really excited about this! @petsplacenl gave us the chance to test the SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeder Connect and the Sure Petcare Hub. With three cats it can be a challenge to keep track of their feeding habits. Do they eat too little or too much? For example we often see Lewis stealing food from the other cats, so we need to make sure he doesn’t gain more weight as he already has a big belly. And this is a perfect situation for the Surefeed. We’ve made the choice to use Winston to test this product. We added Winston using only his microchip to the feeder. He only needs to be close to the feeder and the device will automatically detect him. With the integrated scale you can give the right amount of food, that we have registered in the app and it’s very easy to see how much Winston did eat during the day. When Winston comes to eat the lid opens automatically as his chip is detected. This might be a bit strange in the beginning. That’s why we have put the feeder in trainingmode first. During three stages the lid opens from fully open to fully closed. We took for each stage 2 days to get Winston used to it. And he really did well!
