Here are 5 bathroom layout rules to keep in mind when planning a space. They’re not mandatory, and every project is different, so they won’t apply in every situation. However, they provide a helpful framework for creating a bathroom that feels balanced, functional, and well considered. 1. No huge volumes at the entrance Keep the entry area open and light. This creates a strong first impression and helps the bathroom feel more spacious from the moment you enter. 2. Bath close to shower Group the bath and shower together to create a clear wet zone. This improves functionality and keeps the layout visually organised. 3. Easy access between toilet and vanity The vanity should be comfortably reachable from the toilet for everyday use. Good positioning here directly affects comfort and practicality. 4. Vanity and bath as main accent zones These elements should act as the visual focus of the bathroom. Emphasising them adds balance, hierarchy, and a more intentional design. 5. Clear and easy walk-through paths Circulation should feel intuitive and unobstructed. Clear paths make the space calmer, safer, and more enjoyable to use. Follow @design.my.bayhroom for more bathroom tips

What’s the Difference? 👇 Ever wondered why some bathrooms look instantly dated? 👀 🚀P.S If you want to learn how to create your own bathroom floor plan drawings like this… you’ll love our FREE step-by-step video tutorial on how to create bathroom floor plan drawings using Microsoft PowerPoint! 💬 Comment “LAYOUT” to get access now! It often comes down to one simple detail: wide grout joins. 🛠️ Cushion Edge Tiles Once the standard.. these have slightly rounded edges that require wider grout lines. The result? Chunky joins and that unmistakably dated look. ✨ Rectified Tiles With machine-cut, perfectly square edges, rectified tiles allow for tight, minimal grout lines and a sleek, modern finish. A favourite in high-end design. 💡 Pro Tip: Want a clean, timeless aesthetic? Go rectified. And don’t be afraid to pair them with intentionally textured tiles, like handmade zellige, for a touch of contrast and character. 💾 SAVE this for later & FOLLOW for more @bathroomguide_ #bathroom #bathroomdesign #bathroomdecor #bathroominspiration #bathroomideas bathroomgoals bathroomstyle bathroomtiles bathroomreno bathroomselfie bathroomstyling bathroomvanity bathroomrenovation bathroominspo bathroomtips bathroomremodel interiordesign

🚨People tend to see bathroom design as an exercise in finding different pieces of sanitaryware (sinks/shower/toilet) or tiles to replace what they have in their existing locations rather than a cohesive design and layout. 📍Watch part 1 before reading📍 ✅ What to do instead: Plan everything ahead of any work being done and conduct a full survey of the pipework and draining if possible, together with any adjoining spaces that could be incorporated into your design. Where will all your hot and cold feeds and waste pipes run? ➡️ Can you conceal these with panelling or run them into the floor if the joists run in the right direction? A good electrics and lighting plan can make all the difference in your bathroom and help create a peaceful sanctuary when needed. Think of all your products and materials and how well they work together such as flooring, tiles, panelling and wall colours. It is fairly simple to just re-fit a bathroom, but to create a beautiful and usable bathroom takes a lot of design work and planning – something that people often underestimate initially. It is always an investment, so why make it ‘just ok’? ➡️My pro tip: utilise all available space and look at all practical configurations. Maximise the size of shower, bath and basin(s) you can fit into this new space, whilst giving careful consideration to walkways and all the space in between so it doesn’t start to feel cramped. Then look at all your products and materials – your tile options need to work with your chosen flooring and colour palette. The sanitaryware all needs to work cohesively and then you need to consider your taps – are you going with a more modern brushed brass look, or sticking with traditional chrome? A mood board is always a good idea and then order plenty of samples so you can see everything together in the room before making any decisions.
