If you’re planning a trip to Moab or Arches National Park, these 4 hidden gem trails are absolutely worth adding to your itinerary. They show off such a different side of Moab, from red rock slot canyons and desert water hikes to massive arches and the country’s tallest sandstone spire. These lesser-known hikes are unbelievably INCREDIBLE! A few quick tips before you go: ☀️ Start early, especially in warmer months (we started just before sunrise for each). 💧 Bring more water than you think you’ll need. 🥾 Wear waterproof shoes with good traction as many of these trails include water crossings. 🌱 Stay on established trails and avoid stepping on cryptobiotic soil. 👇Details👇 This 17-mile road is a must when you’re planning you’re Moab, Utah itinerary, but have to admit I didn’t even know about it the first time I was visiting nearby Arches National Park and Canyonlands. Don’t make the same mistake! 📌 First, SEND to the friend you’re going to Moab with! Here’s what to know before you go: 🚙 4x4 not required (mostly) 🚙 The road is paved and 17 miles long, but at 17 miles the road continues as an unpaved road leading to the blue ponds - 4x4 is required here. 🧗 Wall Street 🧗 8 miles in you’ll drive through Wall Street - enormous cliffs towering straight up along one side of the road, with the Colorado river on the other side. This area is great for rock climbing. 🦕 Dinosaur tracks 🦕 10 minutes in you’ll find the dinosaur tracks and petroglyphs. These are just a short walk from the parking area. 🏜️ Corona Arch 🏜️ Shortly after passing the dinosaur tracks turnoff, you’ll find the Corona Arch Trailhead. This is a 3-mile hike roundtrip with a few areas involving heights and exposure. 🏜️ Jug Handle Arch 🏜️ 20 minutes into your drive, you’ll hit jug Handle Arch. You can see this from the road, or hike half a mile to get a closer view and see more petroglyphs along the way. 🕺 Elvis Rock & Potash Ponds 🕺 19 miles/45 minutes in, you’ll be at Elvis Rock, a silly roadside attraction that looks like the face of Elvis. It’s next to Potash Ponds - the bright blue evaporation ponds. 🚁 Seeing Potash Ponds without a drone 🚁 There aren’t many high vantage points on Potash Road, so to see Potash Ponds from above you can head back down the road and up to Dead Horse Point. The entrance fee is $20 and has panoramic views of the area, including these bright blue ponds. . . . . . #moab #visitutah #southwestroadtrip #utahroadtrip #roadtripusa #forevermighty
