Montgomery County Agricultural Fair 📍 Montgomery County Fairgrounds, Gaithersburg, MD We love to visit the MoCo Agricultural Fair every year to see animals, go on the rides, play games, watch the shows, and, of course, eat fried Oreos. Things to know: 🎟️ Kids age 11 and under are free to get in but adults cost $12 online/$15 at the door. ⏰ The animal barns open at 10 and the carnival rides open at noon. The fair runs all day long and into the night. Check the website for closing times. 🅿️ $15 for parking onsite at the fairgrounds or park for free at the nearby Lakeforest Mall and take a shuttle over. 🎡 Rides are about $1 a ticket and I didn’t see many (any) rides under 4 tickets. You can buy a wrist band for $25 to $40 based on the day. For most rides kids have to be at least 48 inches to ride alone. Many rides require a parent or responsible adult for smaller kids. There are very few rides that kids under 36 inches can do, even with a grownup. 🏀 There are many carnival games and attractions (pony rides, bumper boats, rock climbing ride, etc.) that cost extra and most of these are cash only. 🛻 There are a few paid shows (Demolition Derby, Monster Trucks) but lots of free entertainment, too. Check the Fair website for the schedule. 🥵 August weather means it’s almost always super humid and hot. Bring lots of water, a portable fan, and find the misters on the main road. There are a few indoor areas with A/C. 🍦 Lots of on-site food options but they can be pricey and the lines can be long. You CAN bring in food and (non-alcoholic) beverages.
