Moth dal is high in fibre and protein and many other nutrients but ignored in our kitchen.We in Punjab cook Moth or Matki dal in winters cuz of its nutritional value & it keeps us warm too. Here in this recipe i am making a combo of Green Moong dal & Moth which increases its nutritional value & very delicious in taste. Do try it out & Save for later use 🌿 . . Method & Ingredients ✅✅ Green moong dal -3/4 cup Moth dal -1/4 cup Washed & soaked in 8 cups of warm water for 2 hours. Add 1 tsp salt ,1 tsp turmeric powder ,a pinch of asafoetida and cook till 4 whistle on high flame then on low heat for half an hour . . For the tempering Desi ghee -2 tbsp unmelted Cumin seeds -1 tsp Onion chopped -1 cup Ginger grated -1 tbsp Green chilli -3 Bay leaf -1 Tomato chopped -1/2 cup Salt a pinch Red chilli powder -1 tsp Coriander powder -1 tsp Roasted cumin seeds powder -1/2 tsp Heat ghee,add cumin seeds and bay leaf .Add onion cook for a few minutes add ginger and green chilli. Cook the onion till translucent,add tomatoes. Add all the spices mentioned.cook for 2 minutes add 1 cup water and cook on low flame till masala leaves ghee . . Now open the cooker, check the dal.Add half glass water if needed.Cook the dal on low heat for half an hour. Keep stirring in between. Add malai/ fresh cream -1 tbsp Mix well,add the tadka . Sprinkle 1 tsp garam masala and coriander leaves. ‪#souldishes ❤️ Moth Fry ❤️ : ⬇️ Moth dal, also known as moth beans or Matki is a small, brown, drought-resistant legume (Vigna aconitifolia) native to India. It is widely consumed in Indian cuisine due to its high protein and fiber content and nutty, earthy flavor.  Ingredients: 👉 1 cup soaked moth (matki) 👉 2 to 2.5 cups water (for boiling) 👉 2 tbsp oil 👉 1 tsp jeera 👉 1 tsp red chilli powder 👉 ½ tsp haldi powder 👉 1 tsp coriander powder 👉 Salt to taste 👉 ½ tsp sugar 👉 2 pieces of aam ka achar (any mango pickle) Process: 1. Boil the moat In a kadhai, add the soaked moth and water. Boil until the moth turns soft but not mushy. Keep aside. 2. Prepare the tempering In the same kadhai, heat oil. Add jeera and let it splutter. 3. Add spices Add red chilli powder and sauté for a few seconds. Add the boiled moat and fry for a couple of minutes. 4. Season Add haldi, coriander powder, salt, and sugar. Mix well and cook for 2 to 3 minutes. 5. Add achar Add 2 pieces of aam ka achar. Mix everything well so the achar coats the moat beautifully. 6. Sprouted Moth Beans Dal Serves 4 Ingredients ● 1 and ½ cup sprouted moth beans ● 1 smoked single clove garlic - chopped ● ½ tsp turmeric powder ● Asofeotida, a pinch ● Salt to taste ● Water, as needed ● 1 tbsp gingelly oil ● ¼ cup chopped onion ● 1 stick curry leaves ● 1 green chili - chopped ● 2 dry red chilies ● 1 tsp mustard seeds ● 1 tsp cumin seeds ● 1 tomato - chopped Preparation 1. Take a cooking pot. Add sprouted moth beans, chopped tomato, green chili, turmeric powder and clove garlic. Add 4-5 cups of water and cook covered for a minimum of 30 minutes. 2. Mash the dal in between while cooking to speed up the cooking process. Add asofoetida and salt to taste. Add more water if needed and cook for another 20 minutes. 3. Prepare tempering by heating oil in a separate pan. Add curry leaves, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, dry red chilies and chopped onion. Add this to the dal.
