Mt. Davis in Somerset County is the highest point in PA with an elevation of 3,213 feet. (Use the Laurel Highlands or PA statewide @purplelizardmaps to find the location.) 📍This is located about 1 1/2 hours from Pittsburgh and 1 hour from Johnstown. Fun Fact: The point with the lowest elevation in Colorado is still higher than Mt. Davis. 💡 I hiked the 6 mile High Point Trail which first took me to the observation tower. It’s a 1.0 mile hike to the tower from the parking area on Mt. Davis Rd. You can choose to do an out and back to the tower and keep it short (kid-friendly) or continue on for the entire loop. I recommend if you have time doing the entire loop. This is a great hike with rock 🪨 outcroppings, rhododendrons and waterfalls. Every time I explore Forbes State Forest, I wonder why I’m still living in a housing plan 😜 and not in this beautiful forest. You can also park right by the observation tower if you would like to skip the hike. It’s a short drive to Baughman Rocks and the High Point Lake observation deck. Picketpost Mountain. For anyone wondering yes it’s easy to lose the trail but we always found it again so use the AllTrails app. Lots of fun scrambles to get to the top I really enjoy this hike and highly recommend it
