If my posts have ever confused you, hopefully this series will clear things up📝 Classic gel application is frequently called “Shellac” following the brand name of gel polish that was firstly invented by CND. However, calling this service a “Shellac manicure” is not correct, because hundreds of brands have come out with their own UV-cured gel polishes. Now, the service that include 3 steps of gel application — thin layer of a base coat + 2 layers of a color + thin layer of a top coat — has a general name “no chip manicure”, “gel polish manicure”, “classic gel application”. It lasts 2 weeks. 20 years ago it made a revolution in the nail market, because people didn’t have an alternative to regular polish that lasted much less time. Currently, it is the easiest service and the most basic skill that is taught in nail schools. Because the nail industry has developed a lot and new — more long-lasting — techniques, it gradually displaced the classic application.
