In 2011, George Bush warned about the rise of fear… During a Q&A on C-SPAN, President George Bush reflected on what he saw as a resurgence of familiar currents in American politics: isolationism, protectionism, and nativism. He pointed to the 1920s as a moment worth revisiting — an era marked by “America First” sentiment, more restrictive immigration laws, and skepticism of global trade, all of which some historians connect to the economic struggles that followed. His message wasn’t a condemnation, but a caution: history has patterns, and it’s worth asking where those patterns might lead. What stood out most was his hope for a future shaped by thoughtful, forward-looking immigration policy. More than a decade later, it’s still a question worth considering: how does history inform the choices we make today? #Politics #GeorgeBush #Immigration #Government #Throwback

Back in 2011, George W. Bush warned about isolationism, protectionism, and nativism. MAGA today is exactly what he was warning about.

Isolationism, nativism, racism — none of this is new the United States. The difference is we’ve always managed to keep that faction in the minority. H.W. Brands wrote a book called America First about the original movement — Lindbergh, Huey Long, Father Coughlin. These guys were trying to stand up a Nazi party in the 1930s. Franklin Roosevelt put it down. What those movements actually delivered to their own supporters , the angry middle-class white Americans who felt left out, was poverty and further marginalization. Same story now. Trump sits at 34% and he’s made it to the presidency twice in three elections. Some of that is the Democrats putting up weak candidates. But a lot of it is a genuine culture war — anti-woke, nativist, and genuinely dangerous. If we don’t try to build a coalition to weaken it, I think the outcome for this country gets very bad. #anthonyscaramucci #donaldtrump #politics

George W. Bush on “America First” and Immigration Policy Former President George W. Bush is weighing in on today’s immigration and “America First” debates by looking to history. Bush warned that periods of isolationism, trade protectionism, and nativism have happened before in the U.S.—and said he’s concerned the country may be repeating that cycle. #GeorgeWBush #ImmigrationPolicy #USPolitics #AmericaFirst #HistoricalPerspective #PoliticalDiscussion

What do you all think about Stephen Miller ?? I was not familiar with the beliefs of Nativists & Eugenicists so forgive my ignorance. I get it, the feelings of uncertainty, seeing new faces, foreign things that we arent used to but our whole country was made from migration, aside from Natives that were basically wiped out. This isnt even an open border conversation, the fear mongering, misinformation & word illegal are all used to demonize people and prevent the natural progression the world is taking. How can we be convinced that brown is bad for brown ? because "that brown" is not native or thats "illegal brown" or un-American brown ? lol I dont subscribe to conspiracies & I dont like to speak on half truths & propaganda but I am going to learn about Nativism & Eugenics so I can fully understand. We have to co-exist here & the variety we have here makes the World a cool place 😎 #NATIVISM #EUGENICS #NOMOREKIDSINCAGES #IMMIGRATIONREFORM #FREEMINDS

Hey just a wee discussion about *that* immigration chart by Reform UK, inspired by a post by Professor Williams. I had recorded this last week, however I haven’t been as active due to health issues, but you can’t keep a good dog down… or something #history #immigration #migration #normaninvasion #normans #1066 #nativism

When rhetoric escalates, someone gets hurt. Spoke with Yoram Hazony about speaking at NatCon, but was denied due to accusations of anti-Semitism. My desire to meet with Netanyahu to deescalate was also rejected, deemed not in his political interest. #NationalConservatism #Politics #Deescalation #Rhetoric #Leadership #Diplomacy #InternationalRelations #AmericanFirst #Nativism #Geopolitics
