Thank you @jp_kaltzy for these awesome tree pictures! He said that the first picture is a southern live oak! He said the two others are eastern hemlocks. These trees are some of the oldest on the east coast, from Hearts Content Natural Area!

Hello Friends! Come visit the gorgeous dogwood tree that lives in our backyard while she’s still at her peak. Don’t miss this year’s display of brilliant white blooms against the Carolina blue sky. We even have a table and chairs set up for you. Grab a coffee from @morningglorycafenc in downtown Newton and enjoy it under the canopy. Address in our bio. #spring2026 #dogwoodtree #ncstatetree #downtownnewton #takeabreather

Met an old tree today. The oldest long leaf pine in the world. Allegedly #southern #pines #northcarolina

At #WeymouthWoodsSandhillsNaturePreserve last Saturday, visitors gathered for Party for the Pine to celebrate a true North Carolina icon: the oldest known living longleaf pine, estimated to be 478 years old. Superintendent Billy Hartness helped mark the occasion by leading guests in a recitation of the North Carolina State Toast, “The Old North State,” a poem written by Leonora Monteiro Martin in the early 1900s, honoring the deep roots and enduring legacy of this remarkable tree. Thanks to all who came out for the celebration and we look forward to seeing you again next year for the Old Tree’s 479th birthday!

Just part of the job :’( A lot of our Treasure Trees have died since they were originally measured in the 1970s. Part of revitalizing the program is removing a tree from our list once it’s removed from the ground—which we happened to see when we went to measure this Southern Red Oak! If you live in Charlotte or Mecklenburg County NC, we’re on the lookout for the next largest LIVING Southern Red Oak now 👀

I love Scots Pine trees. They're hard to miss, often towering over the other trees and plants. The red and black bark is a striking contrast against the green back drop of the forest. The bark is thick and layered. Like you could peel it off. Can you notice where I bump the camera into the tree.....twice🤣🤣. The camera and extended stick aren't the easiest to control😂. Gonna need some more practice. #insta360x5 #naturehealsthesoul #treeporn #scotspinetree #sunshinevibes
