Norbert was our Beaver. He changed our creek and our lives. We miss him (or her) dearly, but what Norbert left us will last forever. Both the dams and ponds which make our land safer and healthier, but also the knowledge of how amazing beavers are. Here’s to Norbert, on International Beaver Day. ❤️🦫

Aometimes family isn't determined by blood or even by species, it is the love in our hearts that unites us. 💚🦫 Yesterday I re-shared one of my favorite videos of Bo first asking me to swim with her, and already there are hundreds of comments saying "get in the water woman!!!" so I just wanted to reassure everyone that the icy cold did not keep us apart 🤗🦫 A year later, Bo and I swim almost every day. Bo has loved this vine since she was a baby, no matter how prickly it is. I believe it is a wild rose. With nimble little paws and iron sharp teeth she is well equipped for even the most difficult vegetation. Many people think that beavers eat fish, in fact I got a call on the wildlife Hotline the other day about someone who was concerned because they just stocked their pond with trout, and then a beaver showed up, but I assured him there was no need for concern. Beavers are strictly herbivores, and never snack on fish.
