My baby is 16 years old 🥹 This stunning number birthday cake is made with simple ingredients. It’s my go to birthday cake for anyone in the family. Ingredients: Puff Pastry:4 Large sheets (or combine two smaller sheets by rolling them together) Filling: - 7 cups heavy whipping cream - 1 cup instant vanilla pudding mix (dry, not prepared) - 1 cup confectioners’ sugar Toppings: - Assorted chocolates - Fresh strawberries - Macarons - Fresh flower buds (optional) Instructions: 1. Prepare the Puff Pastry: - Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) - Roll out the thawed puff pastry on parchment paper. If needed, slightly roll the edges to fit your number stencil. - Place the stencil on top of the dough and use a sharp paring knife to carefully cut around it. - Remove excess dough and save for future use. 2. Bake the Pastry: - Transfer the parchment paper with the cut-out number onto a baking sheet. - Repeat to create a second identical number piece (one for the base, one for the top). - Place another sheet of parchment paper over the cut-out numbers, then place a second baking sheet on top to prevent excessive puffing. - Bake for 30 minutes, or until golden brown. - Remove from oven and allow to cool completely. 3. Number Cake! I know, I know I said I don’t make these any more, but hear me out… The last time I made a number/letter cake was 3 years ago!! So when I got this order, temptation got to me 🥴🙈. The number 5 is 12 inches long. I didn’t have a ready-made template for it so I printed one out. Now because it didn’t fit on one sheet, so divided the — 5 half on one sheet and half on another. Then I glued them together after cutting them out. Pointers - Always start with a very cold cake. - Cut it directly on the cake board you are going to use. - After piping on the first layer, refrigerate the cake and allow the frosting to set before putting on the top layer. - I usually don’t soak this cake, but I did gently soak the sides and top to avoid it drying out. One very important thing to keep in mind while ordering a number/letter cake is that there are a lot of scraps because of the cutting. Also, the cakes are usually topped with lots of candies and treats.
