🎙️”Are we in trouble?” Sylvia Earle has spent 67 years as a marine biologist, oceanographer and explorer and says, “Yes, we are in trouble as a species.” Yet, she also talks about hope and celebration for the knowledge we have now to make positive changes. It’s incredibly encouraging when we have living historical figures like Sylvia Earle that have spent decades witnessing climate change and human destruction on our planet still trying their best to contribute a leaf of faith to our current generation 🤯🙏🏻✨ Follow @humanfoododyssey to learn about how we can change the way we eat (through climate diet) + live so we can conserve our home 🏡🌏 Watch the full interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXjMWBWU_fQ #climatechange #ourplanet #planetconservation #sylviaearle #savetheplanet #sustainability #sydney #australia #climatediet #futureproofeating #marine #marinebiology #oceanographer #savetheoceans

Hanging out with this gorgeous little Green Sea Turtle at Nguthungulli (Jullian Rocks). There was a little bit of swell swishing us around on the surface, which made for some gorgeous photos. Someone asked me how I stay motivated to work so hard. For me, working hard means finding a balance between work, play, and rest. Working hard is me putting effort into the things I feel passionate about, having resilience when I get knocked down or life goes awry, practicing perseverance and showing up on the days I have energy and taking rest on the days I don’t. Practicing courage when I feel like I have no idea what I’m doing or where things will take me. My motivation is built around achieving the things in life that truly make me happy deep down. Exploring the world, working in the most incredible places on Earth, seeing wildlife and nature up close, meeting new people and strengthening long time relationships, understanding the world through the lens of science, and sharing that with others in as many ways as I can. The rewards include growing community, having incredible nature experiences, and working with amazing teams. It also comes with struggle and test of my character and values. The payoff is the feeling of making my dreams come true, and inspiring others to chase their own dreams too in whatever way ‘working hard’ means for them. #womeninstem #womanscientist #oceanographer #actuallivingscientist #scientistswhoselfie #workhardplayhard

Marie Tharp - the woman who created the first ever map of the ocean floor 🗺️ Part 1 of 2. “You think the seafloor is all mapped, but it’s not. We’ve not even mapped 25% of the world’s seafloor to a modern standard meaning multi-beam sonar and GPS navigation. 75% of the Earth’s seafloor is basically uncharted territory, and it’s even crazier for the volume of the ocean. Barely 5% of the ocean volume has ever been explored with a remotely operated vehicle.” #science #oceanographer #ocean #history #oceanography #seafloor #exploring #geology #geological #podcast #podcastshow #shawnryanshow
