If you’ve already signed up, don’t panic. You can undo it. 3 Steps to Start the Reversal Process ⚔️ 1) Surrender the REAL ID at the DMV – Ask for a standard, non-compliant state ID or driver’s license. You do not have to accept the federal version. 2) Send a Revocation Affidavit – Write and notarize a letter stating you rescind consent to be identified by any federal ID system under Title 5 USC §552a and UCC 1-308. if the word “affidavit” scares you, all it is, is a sworn statement of truth. your testimony in writing. if you want the easy version of this, HANDWRITE something like “I no longer consent to being identified by or associated with the REAL ID Act of 2005 or any federal identification system. I reserve all rights under UCC 1-308.” 3) Record It Publicly – File your affidavit with your county recorder or serve it to your Secretary of State to make it part of the public record. (if recording publicly makes you nervous just have it notarized and carry a copy with your ID or passport while traveling) most tsa has yet to give me any issues despite the official date being “May 7th 2025.” probably because i mentally /energetically don’t subscribe to their bs rules so they don’t even notice lol. this might not be the case in the near future though. freedom requires knowledge and action.
