Rachel Ives of @balmerinosheep decided to switch to organic to make her business environmentally friendly. Now, endangered birds make her farm their home. 70% of UK land is used for agriculture- so nature's revival starts with how we farm 🧑🌾 Like Rachel, we want a world full of insects, birds and wildlife - and it starts from the ground up 🪱 #Soil #SoilHealth #Agroecology #Organic

I believe wholeheartedly that our food and our land should be free from chemicals. We believe that our land deserves to be treated with respect, that trees should be planted and wild areas left, that biodiversity should be protected, and that all the other living creatures we share this earth with should be protected and not exploited. The founding principles of the business never changed and have never been compromised. Creating a fairer chemical free food system and making this food accessible to all has been our charter and continues to be. We continue to farm, to grow good wholesome chemical free food but priorities changed at least for me from growing food to managing a business. At the beginning we had nothing and that was hard, now we have a team of people, we have loans, tractors, sheds, machinery and a small smattering of experience and knowledge, it is still hard, but the challenges have changed. Since its very modest beginnings in 2006 GEO has grown into the biggest home delivery business of organic food in the country with our own farm and a network of other Irish organic farms that we support and buy from each week. You, our customers, are helping turn that into a reality, so thank you for sticking by our side, we hope we can continue on this path for many years to come. When the land is healthy, it sings. This is a golden-headed cisticola, tucked into one of our windbreak corridors. We planted those corridors to slow wind, hold soil, and stitch habitat back through working farmland. We didn’t plant them for marketing photos. We planted them because structure matters. And now they’re alive: Insects hum, hedgerows move, birds return. The cisticola isn’t here because of a product. He’s here because of practice. Regenerative farming isn’t a line on a label, it’s patience, shelter, and letting corridors mature. And the clarity you taste in the glass? It begins out there. #WhenTheLandIsHealthy #WildlifeReturn #RegenerativeFarming #WiddenBrookFarm

Yes… I am slightly obsessed with maggots 😄🐛 But that obsession is part of something much bigger. I am obsessed with the question… How do we create truly sovereign communities all over the world? One of the biggest hidden dependencies in modern farming is protein. Chickens, fish, pigs and even soil systems often rely on imported grain and industrial feed. If we want real independence, we have to solve that. Black soldier flies are one of the most exciting solutions we have found. They allow us to transform food scraps and organic waste into high quality, grain-free protein while closing nutrient loops inside the farm and food forest system. This is just one small piece of a much bigger puzzle. At the farm we have been pioneering systems like this because once we find solutions that actually work, we can share them with neighbours, friends and communities. Step by step, this is how we reduce dependence on systems that are damaging ecosystems and local economies. In our upcoming free event later this month, I will be sharing how these practical solutions fit into a bigger framework. We will break down how to establish integrated businesses where resilient farms combine with design, education and community building pillars. These models can create personal sovereignty, but more importantly, they allow real regenerative communities to form 🌱 If this speaks to you and you want to learn how these systems connect into a larger strategy, comment SOVEREIGN and I will send you details about the webinar. #permaculture #sovereignty #blacksoliderfly #closedloopsystems #regenerativefarming foodsovereignty futureoffarming designwithnature ecocommunity regeneration

Telling our agroforestry story 🌳🌲🐏🐮 Just a quick peak into our amazing agroforestry project in partnership with @woodlandtrust here at the farm. From silvopasture, wood pasture, woodland and shelter belts, we’ve put in about 6000 trees and there is more to do 💪🏻. I’m looking forward to sharing more of our agroforestry journey as these beautiful trees grow. #soilassociationambassador #farmtofork #organic #naturefriendlyfarming #agroforestry
