What should you do if you ever see this happen? 🩹 Prioritize your own safety first and foremost! 📞 Call local wildlife rescue right away. They can give you guidance and might be able to respond quickly. 🛟 If you do elect to help, use tools, not hands. Even smaller birds can have sharp talons and beaks—and can injure you without meaning to. 🐦 Give it space to recover. Stress is dangerous for wildlife, so once it’s safe, back away and let it rest until it’s ready to move on its own. Then if you need to, get it to your closest wildlife rehabber. 📹: Jessica Salmons

Zeus has diligently been providing fish to Hera 🐟. Copulation has occurred, meaning we are officially on egg watch. #Ospreys that nest in the Chesapeake Bay – the world’s largest breeding ground for the iconic raptors – are currently facing a population crisis, with chick survival rates at historic lows. Remy Moncrieffe, marine conservation policy manager for the National @AudubonSociety, says a lack of science regarding the menhaden population in the Bay is one of the primary challenges facing fisheries managers and those concerned about an osprey population decline. “Menhaden are one of the biggest indicators of ecosystem health for us, especially in the #Chesapeake Bay. My biggest secret capturing osprey diving is just to delete 90 percent of the failed attempts and to pretend nothing ever happens 😭. Safe to say it is extremely difficult to follow their dives as there are a few speeding changes at the final impact. This one wasn't perfect but it was so close and I love that she got 2. #osprey #ospreys #chesapeake
