Seven-year-old Ishank Singh successfully swam across the Palk Strait, covering nearly 29 kilometres in about 10 hours. The stretch is known for its strong currents and unpredictable conditions, making it one of the most challenging open-water routes. His feat places him among the youngest swimmers to complete this crossing. In a separate development, India also set a global record in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. At Radhanagar Beach, more than 200 divers unfurled the largest underwater national flag. The attempt was officially recognised by Guinness World Records. Ranchi. Ishank Singh, a Class 3 student of Jawahar Vidya Mandir, Shyamali, Ranchi, has achieved a historic feat at the international level, setting a world record. This is a proud moment for the school family. At the age of just 7, Ishank Singh successfully crossed the challenging Palk Strait, approximately 30 km long, from Talaimannar in Sri Lanka to Dhanushkodi (Arichalmunai) in India, on April 30. He completed this unique swim in a continuous time of 9 hours and 50 minutes. For this extraordinary achievement, he has been awarded the World Record Certificate of the Youngest and Fastest Palk Strait Swimmer by the Universal Records Forum (URF World Records).

I am glad that I was able to convert this chance and opportunity given to me in a successful achievement of an Indian National Record by swimming twice across the Palk Strait (i.e. India to Srilanka then back to India) in 18hrs 15mins becoming the youngest female swimmer to achieve this feat.
