The next generation of parents will be different. We’re teaching our kids that if anyone and I mean ANYONE, family or not disrespects them or makes them uncomfortable, they tell us. And we won’t shush them to save face at family dinners. We won’t protect reputations over our children’s safety. Society’s pressure means nothing when it comes to our kids. They’ll learn their voice matters more than anyone’s comfort. The cycle of silence? It ends with us.

Raja beta sab kuch kar sakta hai. We’ve all heard that line growing up. But what we don’t realise is — every time a mother protects her son from consequence, or a father says “boys will be boys,” a man-child is born — not a man. He learns that his anger is valid, but a woman’s boundary is disrespect. He learns that the world will adjust, because maa ne hamesha adjust kiya tha. I got my answer, took years of evaluating both sides. For some people it’s a natural choice but for others who don’t want to succumb to pressure but take their own stand, it’s a journey of finding what life will look like on both sides. I’m glad I waited till that answer was clear to me and didn’t do it out of societal pressure, as they are just average of the possibilities and may not make sense for everyone 🥹🧿🧿
