OH MY GOD THIS DRESS IS DONE!!! 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻 I almost had a panic attack trying to get into and out of it with this jerk of a side zip 😂 but it’s supportive! And cute! Excuse me while I go live my best #brigittebardot life now 💁‍♀️ I did a lot of experimentation with this, some good and some bad, so keep an eye out for some construction notes in the next day or two. Did you see the pockets at the end? 👀😍 I’ll be honest, I really wasn’t sure how this was gonna turn out and I still think it’s mental but I also kinda love it! ✨ This is the Willow sewing pattern but I’ve hacked the front waist V into a straight waist seam to keep the lines and silhouette clean with all the chaos. The plain orange waist ties work well and even stand out against the vibrant fabric 🧡 I also chose to raise the back neckline as I plan on layering this on cooler days. This really was a scrappy make! Each pocket bag is a different colour, cut off grain to make the most of the scraps. The binding is made from scraps too! One of the front pieces has a seam in it as I didn’t have enough for the full pattern piece. I really took my perfectionist head off here and hacked away at bits, there’s wonky seams, I just kinda winged it and it was quite refreshing! Nothing like that me-made feeling!😊 I’ve been dying to recreate the Christy Dawn Brynne dress, and once I found this patchwork fabric I knew I had to get to work! I hacked the bodice of the #eleanoradresspattern by @silversagapattern by taking a lot of fullness out of the bodice and sleeves, removing the ruffle at the neckline, and adding trim to the sleeves. I self drafted the skirt with a gathered second tier. After finishing the bodice I sat on this for a few weeks because I was worried I would hate it.
