✨If you’ve been dreaming about sewing a quilt jacket but feel a little nervous to start, you’re not alone. ✨After lots of searching, I gathered 6 quilt patterns that are trendy, have the right drape, and would be perfect for quilted jackets and coats—they’’re all officially on my to-make list!

Make a demo first. I used old towels (they’re thick like a quilt) so I could test the fit and construction before cutting into a precious quilt—and I’m so glad I did. It gave me the confidence to finally do it! ✨After my mock-up, I made three small but important changes:
1️⃣ Lengthened the sleeves and body hem about 3”
2️⃣ Gave the neckline a little more room (about 1” at the shoulders)
3️⃣ Added a scalloped hem by tracing a bowl and finishing it with bias binding to gently hug the curves ✨If sewing a quilt jacket is something you’ve been longing to try—but indecision or fear of choosing the wrong pattern has held you back—this is your sign. ✨I’ve gathered 6 great quilt jacket patterns so you don’t have to guess. To add warmth and structure, I lined them with a vintage cotton sheet and quilted them with a custom Art Deco design. I’ve seen so many quilt coats on Pinterest and I finally made myself one from the leftover fabric I had from my grandma’s quilt 😍 I used the #paolaworkwearjacket (which is free!) in a size 8/10. I added an inch and a half to the length and opted for a self drafted hood instead of the collar. I also finished all of the seams on the inside so it is technically reversible!
