#dropit challenge on #linkparty day for @fibremood because they just dropped their latest #fibremood magazine. This is the #fibremoodmoira jumpsuit which has such cool details like geometric style lines and balloon pants. But the winged sleeve trim is my absolute fave. Fabrics used are from @minervadotcom and these colors express my deep yearning for spring! I was fooling around with a #colorblocking idea combining lime green, apricot orange and Barbie pink. Halfway thru, I felt like it was going to turn out as a clown costume, and felt really bummed about the fabric choices. But now I can clearly say that I LOVE this #memade #jumpsuit - it makes me feel ready to spring towards the warmer months. And I like how the #colorblock accentuates the style lines of the garment. I spent some time over the last week sewing up this #sunriseskort pattern in testing for @jessilous_closet and I’m happy with how it turned out! Vintage Pattern Review! 🪡🧵🪡🧵🪡 . . . This was the pattern I used for my green trousers and I really loved the construction. This took me a few hours to sew and about two hours to prep! My favorite part was the attached zipper fly- very different than the pants I’m used to making with many moving parts. . . . I know PDF patterns are super easy and fun but I really love using vintage printed as well. It’s a totally different experience learning to understand the pattern package, reading the lengthy instructions and details of the garment, and having all the pieces finally click together like ✨magic✨ . . . I cut the good fabric! ✂️ Here are the details: this is the #atlastop - hacked heavily. I removed the center seam, instead cut the bodice on the fold. Added a little more fabric (maybe 1/2 inch on the fold) to the center of the bodice. Moved the dart from the center to the outer edge (under the arm) of the bodice. I widened the neckline, removing about an inch from the curved neckline, facing, and tapered the back straps to match where the strap meets the neckline. Lengthened the bodice by a small amount. Then - ruffles - all the ruffles. They are added in three general pieces: along the bottom of the bodice, along the armscye (but not all the way down to the side seam, and along the lower edge of each back strap. Created roughly 91 inches of ruffles to go around all the applicable edges. Changed the assembly order to accommodate all the ruffles. Topstitched many areas for stability and finishing. This used about 2 1/4 yds of fabric with my modifications. (I needed more of the plaid vs the pink fabric due to the tightness of the ruffle and the varied thickness of each fabric.) I’m delighted with the pattern as a base plus all my modifications. I’d like to make one without the ruffles next as a comparison.
