#wefixpcc My first term instructing @pcccommunityed ✨new member of @_pccffap_ union and it’s been 🌪️💫catch up + keep up w/ issues at stake @ Portland Community College. I have been proud to join the community @ PCC 🥰 my students are inventive 🤩 excited to absorb every bit of insight I can manage to fit into our classes 🤓🤯😲 I love the community of faculty, staff and students at PCC🩷🩷 I love that community colleges make learning skills affordable & such a mix of ages and backgrounds - so I have been extra excited to share my knowledge and learn from every student taking my course! 🖤🖤🖤unfortunately classes have been cut short because management has been unwilling to accept the very reasonable terms for our new contracts. There has been misinformation spread by PCC president and programs cut when funding should exist. There is extreme management bloat w managers getting 40% - 50% raises in salaries while popular programs are cut and students get waitlisted. The PCC faculty, staff and @pccstudentunion have come together to demand change in the course of management at PCC⛴️🚀I personally struggle to see how funding can be allowed to siphon away into the pockets of managers (PCC president’s car allowance alone is way more than I make in a yr!) PCC president’s Expense Acct, Tech Stipend, Retention Bonus + car allowance = $51,800 😱 in addition to her $344,794 salary which is 26% higher than national median for CC presidents & highest in Oregon!!! I wonder how many part time instructors could be paid with that $51,800? My guess is 8 to 11 PT instructors one term at current pay rates, or maybe 5 PT instructors for two terms? I am just flabbergasted that the media hasn’t picked up this story and followed it everyday - it should matter to you - because it’s public funding being siphoned away…. And public visibility puts pressure on management to be reasonable 😬at least one could hope…. @koin6 @oregonianmedia @kbooradio @xrayfm @portlandmercury @willametteweek

THIS is what dreams are made of 🤩 Thank you to everyone who joined us this week for our official Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the NEW Armen Sarafian Building! While we will still be in the process of moving everything in throughout the summer, we are so excited to have new spaces for our health & natural science classes including: classrooms, labs, study spaces, faculty offices, stock rooms, and much more! The U-Building will even be housing a new space for our @pcchealthwell Student Health Center.
