The highly anticipated, long awaited Peated Arkansas Bourbon Whiskey will be returning very soon! With a mash bill of 82% Arkansas corn, 9% peated malted from the UK, and 9% malted barley, we aged this batch for a bit longer than our previous batch, at just over two years, in 25 gallon charred oak barrels. Some scotches use peated barley for its smokey quality, and that is why Head Distiller Phil Brandon decided to use it for this unique bourbon. Since it is a bourbon, the sweetness of the corn balances out the smokiness of the peat resulting in a smooth and approachably smoky sipper. Bourbon meets Scotch with this spirit. The dessert was a cheesecake that rolled in with another lovely peated 12 yo whiskey by @bowmore, which certainly lifted my mood. Through The Pines Sesame Shochu, Alpine Amaro, Lapsang Souchong, Espresso, Peated Scotch Inspired by @morgandrinkscoffee morgandrinkscoffee’s Lap Dog, this espresso martini variant is smoky, piney, and a bit nutty. Lapsang Souchong plays a big part in this cocktail, with its smoky, piney notes, while Braulio, an alpine amaro adds just a touch of bitterness. Sesame shochu has this nutty flavor to it- this could be substituted with another shochu. A bit of peated scotch at the end adds just a different dimension of smoke. Like drinking coffee by the campfire! 2 oz sesame shochu .25 oz alpine amaro, like braulio .5 oz lapsang Souchong syrup 1 oz espresso bar spoon peated scotch Combine all ingredients into a shaking tin with ice and shake until cold. Pour into a tea or coffee cup and garnish with additional lapsang souchong leaves Lapsang Souchong Syrup 4 g lapsang souchong 100 g hot water 100 g sugar Steep lapsang with hot water for 12 minutes, then strain. Friend or Foe @didko_brewery 🇺🇦 + @browarrockmill 🇵🇱 На це пиво вже пару разів робив огляд. І не втомлююсь робити ще раз. Бо воно одне з моїх найулюбленіших. А тут як раз випала нагода спробувати і витримані бочкові версії. Ліричний відступ. Мали пошейрити це пиво з Євгеном ще на початку травня 2022, десь у далеких Квасах. Але якось не сталося. Тайтаке. Отже, базова версія Friend or Foe - напій богів. Потужний, чорний, димний і торфʼяний, з усіма притаманними рисами - шпали, йод, бинт, копчений сир. Шоколадні нотки, ледь фруктів, чудово приховане алко. Медалів та нагород - як у північнокорейських генералів. Armagnac BA додав ноток бренді, бочки та дещо помітнішої, ніж в базі, деревної гірчинки. Rum BA - солодкувате, фруктові моменти, деревна нотка. Алко присутнє, хоча ром я не дуже розпізнав. Lagavulin Whisky BA - торфʼяне пиво в бочці з-під торфʼяного віскі. Win-win в усіх відношеннях. Також деревні тони, попіл, фруктова нотка. Що тут сказати? Мені все дуже сподобалося. More medical advice at link in bio ✦ Penicillin Sam Ross, Milk & Honey, NYC, 2005 60 ml blended scotch whisky 30 ml lemon juice 15 ml ginger syrup (1:1) 15 ml honey syrup (2:1) shake/strain/rocks glass/cube ice/mist or small float of peated (preferably Islay) scotch whisky/candied ginger or lemon wheel ✦ Ginger syrup: blend equal parts fresh ginger juice and sugar until completely dissolved. Store cold for up to 2 weeks ✦ It’s worth buying a cheap centrifugal juicer for this recipe alone, but if you don’t have one, simply blend ginger with a small amount of water then fine strain. Your ginger juice won’t be as potent, but will work just fine in a pinch. Strong ginger tea combined with an equal portion of sugar makes a lovely syrup, but for a Penicillin, I really prefer the aggressive punch of raw ginger. You can also just buy ginger syrup, but I’ve never found a commercial example that I really love.
