24 Thornden athletes took part in the Perins 2012 Legacy event this afternoon. Some fantastic performances in some sports that our students have never played in before. Thornden Year 10’s finished 2nd and the Year 8’s finished in first place. Thank you to @perinssport for inviting us over and hosting such a brilliant event. 👏

📍 Perins Peak Let me tell you about one of my favorite in-town trails. It’s in a wildlife area; it’s only open for biz 4 months out of the year, which makes this trail extra peaceful and less traveled. It also means you need to have a hunting or fishing license to hike. The easiest way to hike this trail is from a TH located in the RockRidge neighborhood which might seem a little strange but soon you’re gonna be enveloped in a forest and forget the you’re in the middle of Durango. About 1.5ish miles in, your destination will reveal itself. The next mile or so is kind’ve a slog. Don’t forget to look up and take in the views on the climb. And before you know it, at around 2.5 miles you’ll be at the summit. You’ll want to proceed past the “billboards” to get to the rock overhang that you can see from town. Happy World Book Day from all at Perins School! Today, our teachers have gone all out and dressed up as their favorite literary characters to celebrate the magic of books. We also held a fantastic book sale in the library and raised over £100! “On World Book Day, we want to take the opportunity to celebrate the importance of great literature and the opportunities it offers us to understand the world from different perspectives, to explore times and places that we might never see for ourselves and see the struggles and the successes of a diverse range of people. Perins Wins National Día de Muertos Competition! Huge congratulations to our students, who have won a national Día de Muertos video competition judged by the University of Southampton and the Mexican Embassy in London! As part of a vibrant cross-curricular project, students explored the festival through Languages, Art, English, History, RS and Food Technology, creating altars, masks, poetry, papel picado and themed dishes. The project brought creativity, culture and academic depth together in an inspiring way. “Our students not only explored the cultural significance of Día de Muertos, but also gained a deeper understanding of how this festival differs from other celebrations around the world. This project promoted inclusivity, global awareness, and teamwork across year groups. It was a shining example of how enriching, collaborative learning can ignite curiosity and bring our school community together.
