I didn’t get into every Ivy League because I had a wild story. I got in because I knew how to tell it. Harvard. Yale. Princeton. Columbia. All said yes— not because my life was perfect, but because my essay made them feel something. You don’t need a crazy experience to write a killer personal statement. You need strategy. And once you see the structure I used, you’ll never write an essay the same way again. My Personal Statement There’s always room for improvement, but this was my personal statement. Looking back, I realize I could have phrased things better. If your college essay starts with “Ever since I was a child…” …it’s already forgettable. I know you’re probably trying to sound polished. But sounding “polished” isn’t the goal. Sounding like you is. Admissions officers read hundreds of essays a week. They’re not skimming for perfect grammar. They’re looking for personality. Voice. A moment that makes them stop scrolling. And that moment almost never starts with a cliché you found on Google. The best essays don’t sound like essays. They sound like a conversation. Like you’re telling someone a story that only you could write. So if you want your application to actually stand out… ditch the generic intros and start with something real. A moment. A memory. A sentence that pulls them in. If you want to read the essay that got me into every Ivy League… plus the exact framework I used to write it … 📕 Comment IVY and I’ll send it your way. #UltimateMentor #UILG #UltimateIvyLeagueGuide #CollegeAdmissions #IvyLeagueEssay #CollegeEssayTips #PersonalStatementHelp #CommonAppEssay

This is how you make a rich personal statement which makes the selection committee feel like they’ll miss out on you BIG TIME if they didn’t chose such an ambitious problem solver and highly skilled individual. This is how you make an inspirational story out of your own personal experience of a problem. 🫡 . . . #explore #foryou #fyp #relatable #fypシ #reels #reelsinstagram #viralreels #education #scholarship #scholarships #abroad #studyabroad #abroadeducation #abroadjobs #abroadlife #abroadstudy #studyabroadconsultants #studyabroadlife #personalstatement #viral #viralvideos #viralreels

Number 15 hit me the most… # 1. They go quiet when you start talking. Not because you’re loud, because when you speak, it carries weight 2. People tell you things they don’t tell others. If someone opens up to you randomly, it’s because your energy makes them feel safe without you even trying 3. They copy your habits, opinions, or style without realizing it. Imitation is the most honest form of respect, they’ll never admit it 4. When there’s a disagreement in the group, people look at you to see your reaction before they pick a side 5. They remember small things you said weeks ago. People don’t memorize words from someone they don’t respect 6. You get introduced differently. Not just your name, they add what you do, what you’ve built, or what you’re about. That’s them bragging about knowing you 7. People apologize to you faster than they apologize to others. Losing your respect feels more expensive to them 8. They ask for your opinion before making decisions. Not advice from Google, your specific take. That’s earned trust 9. Older people treat you like an equal. When someone with more experience talks to you like a peer, that’s not politeness, that’s recognition 10. You make people nervous without being aggressive. Calm confidence is louder than anything. Some people can’t handle being around it 11. They bring up your name in rooms you’re not in. You’ll hear “I was just talking about you” often. That’s your reputation working without you 12. People don’t try to manipulate you. They know it won’t work. Manipulators only target people they see as weaker 13. When you compliment someone, it hits them different. Because they know you don’t say things you don’t mean 14. Friends of friends already know about you before you meet. Your name travels before you enter the room 15. They watch your moves quietly. No likes, no comments, no DMs. But they’re paying attention to everything you post and everything you build #selfimprovement #mombusiness #growth #femaleentrepreneur

Want to change? Start with updating your identity... Research on self-perception suggests that the brain pays attention to actions and uses them as clues about who someone is. When small actions are repeated, the mind slowly updates the story it holds about the self. Over time those actions become evidence: “this is the kind of person I am.” As that identity strengthens, behaviour becomes easier to repeat because it feels consistent with that inner story, instead of something that requires constant motivation or discipline. Recorded this at LinkedIn HQ in London when I popped in on Friday after a jam packed week doing press and events across the UK. First time I’ve done something in this style, so let me know if I should add this into the repertoire along with my usual videos. Did you enjoy this video style? (Seeing my husband in just under 24 hours!! It’s been over 2 months… counting down)

I love the phrase “I have to.” Why? It’s a direct line to identifying your values. I teach about purpose — and how to find it — in my @nyustern class. And the first step to finding your purpose? Knowing your values! For this hack, I recommend grabbing a piece of paper, writing “I have to…” at the top, and seeing which answers pop. Your non-negotiables tell you a lot about who you are and how you have to live. Give it a try for yourself!

HEY! Just a reminder that your self-worth is not a group decision. You don’t need to view every person, every opinion, every situation, or outcome as a source of approval or disapproval. You, yourself (party of one) decide your value, your character, what’s acceptable vs what’s not. ❣️ #selfawareness #selfacceptance #selfworth #selfconfidence #validation #validateyourself #personalgrowth #confidencequotes #boundaries #selfconcept #codependency #positivepsychology #ifs

TIPS ON HOW TO START WRITING YOUR PERSONAL STATEMENT: After 5 years of helping students brainstorm for and transform their personal statements, I’ve found the first challenge students face is, well, starting. 1️⃣ For starters (all puns intended), just write. Your first draft will unlikely be your last. I changed the entire direction for my residency personal statement two weeks before submitting my application. 2️⃣ Instead of trying to write a seamless narrative, brainstorm on the following questions and write your stream of consciousness. You will start to see common themes that you PS can be structured around. - Why do you want to pursue this career? /What is your motivation to pursue this career? - What experiences have you participated in that have reinforced this decision? - What did you learn from these experiences? - What interests you about the field? - What are you future goals in this career? - What three words describe your mission in this career? ‼️Admission committees read hundreds of PS each year, so your goal is to make yours as memorable as possible. 🌟 Think about experiences outside of your chosen career, and challenge yourself to think about how these activities connect to your future career. 🌟 Find the power in your unique story. I have helped students transform their personal statements by creatively presenting life experiences they never even thought to include such as crafting, dance, gymnastics, makeup, cleaning houses, basketball, carpentry, running, throwing parties—you name it. 🌟Everyone has a story to tell. P.S. I can help you tell yours. 🏃🏾♀️ Follow me for more application tips 📕 Grab a FREE copy of my dental school and residency application in my bio 🤝DM me & we can work together
