I can’t even remember where or when I first learned it, but I remember being completely mind-blown too. 🌲 Safety note: Not all pinecones produce edible pine nuts, so always check what variety you’ve got before you start cracking them open. If you’re lucky enough to have the right kind growing near you, here’s how it works: 1- Harvest the cones when they’re mature 2- Let them open naturally 3- Collect the little nuts inside, crack their shells, and that’s the pine nut we all know and love 4- Apparently you dry them too! I’ve never done it myself (we don’t have the edible kind near me), but it sounds like such a satisfying little forage-y project. Would love to know if anyone’s actually tried it! Clare XO

There’s hidden math inside every pine cone — the same pattern found in flowers, seashells, and even galaxies. 🌲✨ It’s called the Fibonacci sequence, a series of numbers where each one is the sum of the two before it: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13… 
As plants grow, new parts form at the golden angle — about 137.5° from the previous one — spacing each scale, petal, or seed just far enough apart for maximum efficiency and light. In pine cones, that creates interlocking spirals of Fibonacci numbers like 8 and 13 — nature’s way of combining beauty and physics in one perfect design. 
The same geometry appears in sunflower heads, hurricanes, and spiral galaxies.

Il polline di pino è considerato un potente superfood naturale, ricco di vitamine, minerali, aminoacidi e antiossidanti, noto per potenziare il sistema immunitario e aumentare l'energia. È ampiamente utilizzato per riequilibrare i livelli ormonali, in particolare per la presenza naturale di testosterone. Con il suo aroma dolce e balsamico si può aggiungere a frullati, yogurt e molto altro, io ad esempio lo aggiungo al budino di semi di chia. Questa polvere viene prodotta dai microsporofilli (fiori maschi) in primavera, con il vento andrà poi a fecondare i macrosporofilli (fiori femminili, stròbili o giovani pigne). Raccolgo i fiori quando sono carichi di polline, li separo dagli aghi e li setaccio. Lascio gli scarti ad essiccare e li setaccio una seconda volta poiché continueranno a rilasciare ancora del polline. 2-Week Update of My Pinecone Experiment 🌱 Two weeks ago, I started a small experiment by placing several pothos cuttings into a pinecone and keeping it constantly moist to see whether the cuttings could root directly inside the cone. The idea was to use the pinecone as a natural structure that holds moisture while still allowing airflow around the cuttings. So far, the results are quite interesting.
