One of Glasgow’s oldest family-run institutions. 🥪 Lunch • Deanston Bakery – Giant sandwiches (chimichurri chicken, we love you) and cinnamon rolls as big as your face. • The Wild Olive Tree – Nonprofit café in a church with rotating soups and creative scones. We had a salty-sweet one with dates and sunflower seeds and still think about it. 🍽️ Dinner • Stravaigin – Local favorite doing Scottish food with a global twist. Order the small plates and thank us later. • Ardnamurchan – Highlands-inspired date-night spot with epic seafood, local meats, and cozy vibes. 🌟BONUS ⭐️ • Shish Mahal – Iconic curry house and home of the original chicken tikka masala. 🥃 Drinks • The Pot Still – One of Scotland’s top whisky bars with over 1,000 bottles. If you work in Glasgow city centre then there are so many great places to go for lunch. I worked in the city centre for 4 years and these were some of my favourite lunch spots when I wanted something that was really tasty and felt like a bit of a treat. The homemade potato scones are a must try 😍 2. 📍 @kitchenwindowkillearn is the perfect place to go for a bite to eat on your next road trip, they do great food and the homemade chips with chicken salt are a must 🤩 3. 📍 @urbanwest.gla not only does great coffee and cakes but fab food too, I’ve been told their pancakes are great so will need to try them next time 👏🏼 4. 📍 @homegrowngardencentre does the freshest food ever, everything is homegrown, made in house or locally sourced 🙌🏼 5. @viviandcoglasgow is a must visit if you fancy a personalised coffee, you can get anything printed on them too! Is it happening…do I…now kind of know where to eat in Glasgow as a clueless East Coast-er?? I promise I have a Substack in the pipeline with a google map of all my fav places but for now some from a recent trip @celentanos_glasgow a great Italian restaurant with rooms (well, the rooms are until the end of the year anyway!) - great food downstairs in the restaurant and the sweetest breakfast tray with homemade goodies delivered to your door. Where to eat in Glasgow⤵️Let’s check out @sugopastaglasgow for the best fresh pasta in town! If you’re solo in Glasgow, this Italian restaurant is a must-visit! Known as THE pasta spot in Glasgow, it’s always buzzing with people. No reservations allowed, and there’s usually a long queue, even though it’s a large space! I got lucky on a Monday and was seated in just 5 minutes. They offer changing pasta specials alongside their regular fresh pasta menu. It’s hard to choose, so I went for two pastas (though one portion is more than enough for one). I tried the Tagliolini with pesto, green beans, and potato (Number 2) and the Fettuccine in a spicy pork and nduja ragu (Number 7), both topped with generous Grana Padano cheese. If you’re looking for a quick bite or an amazing pasta experience in Glasgow, Sugo is a must-try.
