According to Bonny custom and tradition, a woman who hasn’t done “Egerebite and Bibite” (which loosely translates to tying of wrapper) cannot wear 2 wrappers of some special wrappers like Popo & Ikhaki. Before the ceremony, the IriaBo is kept in a fattening room for a number of days, where she is well fed and her skin taken care of. During the ceremony, she is painted with black paint in different designs called BURUMA! And she dances in different wrappers before friends and family to attain womanhood. This ceremony is compulsory for all Bonny women to be able to wear 2 wrappers as well as participate in socio-political activities in the community.
