When you’re stuck in the diet mentality, it’s tempting to look at a program you haven’t tried yet and think, “maybe this is the one.” But, another diet by a different name will only keep you stuck in the diet cycle and worsen your relationship with food in the long run.💔 The best way to assess this is to look at your lived experience with dieting. How has it actually served you longterm? Many people will say a diet “worked” temporarily - and I believe them. The first 6 months to a year or so is usually the “weight coming off” time, but we want to look at what happened AFTER that. What about 2 years after the start of a diet? 3 years? 5 years? This will help you really see how dieting has impacted you in the longterm. When many of my clients reflect on this, they find that they gained the weight back if not more, and ultimately felt more guilt ridden, obsessed, and out of control with food.🍦 If you’re like the clients who work with me in group coaching, you’re probably tired of diets or “lifestyle changes” hurting your relationship with food.
