One of the most amazing things to me is seeing how quickly curious kids are able to pick up advanced skills. From the moment this little guy touched clay on the wheel, he loved it. He observed what I did, mirrored my movements, and was able to manipulate pots semi-independently within a few sessions. He had a little help with this one but so much of it was him alone. Watch out world, we’ve got a tiny artist is in the making! I couldn’t stop smiling the whole time she was on the wheel. And every time I rewatch this video, it makes me want to laugh and cry. I cannot WAIT for the days when Skye and I get to make things together, side by side, in my studio. I believe that kids should get their hands dirty. That they should be involved in what their parents are doing. And that they should be taken seriously and included as much as possible. I want to be that type of parent to my kids. These next years of teaching my children are the days I’m most excited for as a parent. As she is growing up and becoming more and more autonomous, I get more and more excited to teach her and show her new things and pass on some of the skills I’ve developed over the years. I think I’m done with my break. I had a week free of reels, which was very refreshing. I’m also still giving some deep thought to what I really want to me making when my pottery skills. I think I’ve caught a little inspiration.
