From this 👉 to this 👉 in 3 weeks. And no, the fix is not “engage your abs.” That’s the great handstand myth. A banana handstand is a shoulder-flexion problem - and a thoracic spine problem. If your T-spine is stiff, your shoulders can’t open fully. When the upper back refuses to extend, your ribcage gets “stuck,” your shoulders stay closed, and your body has no choice but to arch to survive the balance. Fix the foundation (shoulders + T-spine), and the banana disappears. WEEK 1 - Isolation This is where most people skip… and where the magic actually happens. • Dynamic shoulder-flexion drills • Thoracic extension work • Opening the ribs and mid-back so your shoulders can actually stack If your thoracic spine doesn’t bend, your handstand will. Period. WEEK 2 - Activation Now you teach your body how to use that new mobility. • Scapular elevation drills • End-range activation • Proprioception + mind–muscle connection You’re strengthening the “open shoulder” position, not just stretching it. WEEK 3 - Inversion Turn it upside down and apply the new pattern in the real environment. Stack shoulders → ribs → hips → feet directly over your hands. This is where your line changes fast.
