Almost the entire classroom responded to the gospel at a public school in Los Angeles!! 🤯 I’m telling you God is doing something in California, the wells of revival must open! Awakening is here! PS: we’re coming back to this same area on Thursday (3/26) Phineas Banning high school at lunch! If you’re a student, parent or faculty member DM me. It’s gonna be 🔥

Public schools are magical places. My husband and I have been teaching in the same public school for over twenty years where our three children now attend. Over the years, we’ve ridden the waves of different initiatives, and the one consistent despite it all has been the amazing education and opportunities our children have experienced as students and we have experienced as educators. When fully supported, public education provides ALL students with the skills they need and deserve in order to succeed. Efforts by the current political administration to dismantle the Department of Education put our funding at risk. Efforts to sow mistrust and doubt in public education make our jobs more challenging and, to be honest, quite terrifying. In his executive order, the president claimed that schools indoctrinate children, which is the exact opposite of what teachers work to do. We do not teach students what to think. We proudly teach children how to grow as critical thinkers. Most frustrating is the misinformation that surrounds these attacks on public education. These attacks are not about state’s rights. States and local districts already decide the curriculum taught in public schools. I currently design my own units and lessons, and teachers across the country have this same autonomy. Instead, the dismantling of the Department of Education and the president’s executive order are designed to divert funding away from public schools in an attempt to privatize education. ALL of our students deserve the best education, and that requires ALL of our support. We need an all-in approach to public education, not policies that weaken these places we call home. I’m so thankful for my public school of over 20 years and for my union in making it possible to provide my students with the best education possible and for continuing to fight for public education ❤️ @neatoday #neatoday #nea #publicschool #publicschoolteacher #teacher #teachersofinstagram #publiceducation #teachersunion

This is indoctrination, plain and simple. Parents need to stop sending their kids to these schools.

Private schools flourished during desegregation, especially in southern states because they were a tool to maintain segregation. State governments have supported private schools through voucher programs and subsidies to maintain segregation. This has a detrimental impact on the public school system as it pulls funding away and forces cutting of valuable services. And to clarify - I am not mad at anyone for sending their kids to private school, I'm mad at the system that segregates schools like this. I have kids and I understand there are lots of reasons people choose the schools they do for their kids. #education #publiceducation #publicschool #privateschool less

Modern schooling is often criticized for functioning less like a place of true learning and more like a system designed to produce standardized workers. Instead of nurturing creativity, curiosity, and independent thinking, many schools follow rigid structures that prioritize obedience, memorization, and routine. Students are trained to follow schedules, complete repetitive tasks, and meet deadlines — all qualities that align closely with the needs of industrial-era workplaces. While this approach once served economies based on factories and offices, it raises questions today. In a world that increasingly values innovation, adaptability, and self-direction, the worker-focused model of schooling may limit students’ potential. The challenge lies in transforming education from a system that mainly creates workers into one that empowers individuals to think critically, solve complex problems, and pursue unique paths in life. What is school choice and why is it the opposite of everything that makes public education so special? #teachers #publiceducation

🫣 More & more parents are looking at private schools right now. Not because their child’s school is bad, but because they’re seeing what’s happening across the public system. Bigger class sizes. Fewer supports. Constant changes. Government takeovers. It’s left a lot of families wanting something different and more stable for their kids. But before you start touring or applying, there are a few mistakes I see parents make all the time. The first? Choosing based on reputation. Every school sounds amazing online or during an open house. But reputation doesn’t tell you what daily life actually feels like. The right school for your child might not be the one with the biggest name. It’s the one that fits who they are and how they learn. The second? Assuming private automatically means better. Private schools vary just as much as public ones. Some are highly academic. Others are nurturing and community-driven. Some have strong learning supports. Others don’t. The label “private” doesn’t guarantee a better experience. The third? Focusing on the program instead of the people. Parents often get drawn to the idea of IB, Montessori, or STEM programs but forget to ask who is actually teaching them. The program might sound impressive, but it’s the teachers and leadership that shape your child’s experience every single day. The fourth? Only seeing the polished version. Open houses are designed to impress. They show you the best version of the school. Try to visit when classes are running. Watch how teachers interact with students, how transitions happen, and what the energy feels like. The fifth? Not asking how the school handles challenges. Every child will face ups and downs. What matters is how the school responds. Ask how they communicate with parents, what support looks like, and how they handle situations when something isn’t going well. At The Parent Advocate, we help families navigate these choices with confidence and find schools that truly fit.
