A Legacy Still in Motion The launch of the Rob Keck film was more than a premiere, it was a powerful reminder of what long-term conservation leadership can accomplish. The film documents the next chapter in Rob Keck’s legacy, recently recognized by the Canadian Wild Turkey Federation as the first hunter to complete the Canadian Wild Turkey Super Slam, harvesting birds across five Canadian provinces. With Outdoor Life following part of the journey, the story builds on a career that helped shape modern turkey hunting. As former CEO of the NWTF and Director of Conservation at Bass Pro Shops, Keck was also the first hunter to complete the wild turkey Super Slam across all 49 huntable U.S. states, plus Canada, Mexico, Guatemala and New Zealand. A legacy rooted in conservation and a story worth telling. Our team was proud to produce this project with our friends from Copeland Creative and to document the history as it happened. It’s my opinion that we as turkey hunters are blessed to (in a way) own Col. Tom Kelly. If you haven’t read The Tenth Legion you should. He’s daughter Laura will be at the @official_nwtf convention in the Turkey Shoppe with the new “Bootleg” edition of that book. She’s so much like him. If you’re attending go by a see her and get her to sign the new book and add that to your collection of turkey hunting heirlooms. Traditions run deep in the turkey hunting world and that’s a good thing.

If anyone ever made me choose between wild turkeys and oxygen, I’m not saying I would die, but I would at least pass out for a few minutes. This latest BU episode with Mr. Benny Herring is one my favorites that we have done. I’m so thankful for these pioneering conservationists that picked up the torch and ran with it. Already seeing some shots fired on social media about turkey hunting tactics, ammo, public ground etc. I’m asked about all of it but to be honest it’s not that important to me. What is important is remembering why we’re able to hunt, fish, trap shoot and talk about it freely. In 16 days I’ll be back in camp with more wounded veterans who remind me how lucky we all are to be doing what we love. They don’t care what ammo we bring, what gun they shoot or what call we use, they’re just glad to be there and so am I. Some of the men in this montage aren’t with us anymore which reminds me it’s way more important to be grateful for that time we shared.
