How about you? 😉 I love quilting… but I may have “accidentally” skipped a few of these habits. 😅 What I never skip though? Picking fabrics I already know I love. Comment EVER and I’ll send you my free Color Guide for Quilters so you can confidently choose fabrics that look amazing together (without the second-guessing). Bonus: when you grab it, you’ll also save your seat for my free April Quilt Pattern Kickstart. Comment EVER and I’ll DM you the link.

Label everything! I know that seems simple but really, how many times have we started a project and forgot to label fabric, threads, patterns. It makes finding what you need a breeze and keeps the creative flow going. Tell me, are you a labeller?

As my dear dad (aka Chief Counter of Paper Pieces) would have said, measure twice, cut once. As a general rule when I’m trimming appliqué blocks to size, I measure and mark it out first before cutting. I can guarantee the one time I don’t will be the time that I cut it incorrectly and have to start all over…… and yes I speak from experience, but thankfully you’ll be pleased to know all went well this time when cutting my Floriferous Quilt borders…… I’m almost there!

“Just Can’t Cut It” is one of our favorite patterns for featuring beautiful fabrics! It is beginner friendly and works up quick. We have several kits to choose from available in the store right now 🪡 Our kits finish at 63”x87” Come in or call the store if you see one you need!

Now is a great time for a gentle quilting reset. Not a big overhaul — just a few small steps that can make your sewing time feel smoother and more enjoyable. Cleaning your machine, changing your needle, pressing fabrics, and resetting your space can help your projects flow a little easier. Think of it as maintenance for both your quilts and your creativity. When you’re ready to refresh your supplies, shop fabric and all things quilting at Hancock’s of Paducah 💛 #quiltingtips #quiltingcommunity #quilting #quiltersofinstagram #quiltingproject

Quilting tip for smoother blocks ✂️🧵 If your intersections feel bulky, try “spinning” your seams on four-patch or similar block centers. It helps reduce bulk and allows your quilt top to lay flatter — especially helpful before longarm quilting ✨ Little adjustments make a big difference. Have you tried this trick before? 💜 #paisleypatchquilts #quilting #fabrics #fabricshop #fabriclove #fabricstore #quiltingtips #quilttips #patchwork #quiltingcommunity #quiltersofinstagram

I love this quilting ruler for breaking down scraps into half square triangles. You slide the ruler to the size triangle you want and then cut it with your rotary tool. Then you flip the tool for the next cut leaving minimal waste. #quiltingtipsandtricks #scrappyquilter #quiltinglife
