In a nutshell, #release1 chip and run is your bread and butter short game shot used when we have more green to work with, whereas #release2 is a soft-landing shot that allows us to access pins when we have less green to work need to increase the spin. ( CONSISTENCY📈) Release 1 Chip and Run . In this video, I’m with single-figure player Tom working on his #release1 chip and run. He has good technique but would not always be able to control the launch angle. This is important as it becomes harder to judge distance consistently if we can’t predict the trajectory and spin of the ball… . One of the issues for Tom was that there were too many #release2 soft-landing shot ingredients within his Release 1 setup and swing. He often got a ball flight that blended both shots rather than a distinctive #release1 chip and run . This is a low shot with less spin, which rolls out gently towards the target. The great thing about this shot is your technique doesn’t need to change, you simply alter the club in your hand to play different distances . SET-UP AND SWING BASICS ✅ Stand closer to the ball with a flatter lead wrist ✅ Keep 60% of your weight on the lead foot ✅ Rotate smoothly with your chest pointing to the target after impact . What’s great about this shot is that your technique stays EXACTLY the same each time, you only need to adjust your club selection to reach pins further away. . HOW I PLAYED THESE SHOTS: 1️⃣ Stood closer to the ball with a flat lead wrist 2️⃣ Used a 4/10 grip pressure 3️⃣ Rotated my chest gently through to the target .
