Renaissance art? Realistic? Kind of. But artists interpret. Fluidity, balance... plus the most important aspect of good art. #RenaissanceArt #ArtHistory #ArtInterpretation #ArtisticExpression #FineArt #ArtLovers #MuseumArt

This is the second video in my series on art and art history. Growing up middle class, I never felt like I understood art. Sure, I’d visit the odd museum but I wasn’t equipped with the terminology to actually be able to appreciate and understand the art. This video (and the series as a whole) is an attempt to bridge that gap for anyone else who feels the same way. Hopefully, with a base understanding, you can appreciate art on your own and be able to for your own opinions ❤️ We cover 4 major periods of art history: Renaissance, Baroque, Impressionism and Abstract Expressionism. Of course there are more but I only have so much time per video! These videos are so fun to make and I have many more series covering many more topics on the way! Hope to see you around in the future ☺️

From dark to dazzling! 🎨✨ How did Renaissance artists change the game? 🤔 #ArtHistory #Renaissance

This masterpiece isn’t just a painting — it’s a layered visual stunt. The “painting within a painting” technique was the ultimate artistic flex of the 1600s, showcasing depth, skill, and storytelling all at once. It’s like the Renaissance version of going viral. 😳

Why is this guy’s finger so LONG? 👆👆 This artwork, ‘Madonna and Child with Saints’, was painted by the Renaissance artist, Parmigianino. He was known for elegant, but deliberatedly distorted figures. This elongated style in late Renaissance art is sometimes called ‘mannerism’. It was all about exaggerating beauty, and making the human figure look more ideal than it really is. In this painting, that long, pointy figure belongs to Saint John the Baptist. He draws our eye up – towards the focal point: the Madonna and the child. This is what Late Renaissance painting looks like: theatrical, excessive, artificial, and slightly camp. @nationalgallery #arthistory #bookstagram #culture #art #renaissance
