Rest time is an important part of working out that a lot of people overlook. Proper rest when your trying to build muscle can be the difference between hitting your rep range or not🗣️ GET ACTIVE‼️ #fitness #gym #gymmotivation #gymtok #resttime #gymrat

Rest isn’t about checking out. It’s about checking back in. When you slow down with awareness, Your nervous system finally gets the message. 💌It’s safe to relax. You don’t need long breaks or perfect routines. Even brief moments of presence can rejuvenate you. Start with one minute. Take a few conscious breaths. Take a slow, mindful walk. A short moment of stillness. You can find simple grounding practices, such as breathing and walking meditations, in the betterMe Mental Health app. Link in bio.

REST REST REST 💤 It is so so underrated and it needs to be praised about more !! I’ve never gone a week without having at least one rest day, but even if I had more than 2 rest days I definitely used to feel guilty. The past year when I reduced my workouts to 3 a week, I was having more rest days than workout days, and that’s when I actually made the most progress (in terms of muscle building) I’ve ever made. Resting your body may sound counterproductive. “if you’re resting, you’re not burning calories so you’re ruining your progress”. That’s what I used to tell myself. THAT IS SO FAR FROM THE TRUTH. 1. Calories burnt does not solely define the progress you make 2. You most CERTAINLY still burn calories, even more so, outside of your workouts (even when sleeping) 3. Think of it like this, workouts prep the bod, rest is where the magic actually happens. It’s essential for muscle repair and growth. 4. Rest is vital for your nervous system, and your mental health. If you don’t rest, you’re in a constant state of stress which can do a lot more harm than good 5. Rest helps regulate your hormones, including your hunger/appetite hormones. Do you ever find when you’re tired, you’re more hungry/craving more and never feel satisfied? I really could go on and on, and if you ask a professional, they’ll be able to tell you even moreeee detail on why rest is so vital. So please prioritise it💪🏼 My rest days consist of a leisurely walk, admin work, seeing some friends, maybe some baking, whatever I fancy🤌🏼I also take @myvitaminsuk ‘Relax’ and 5HTP before I hit the pillow. If rest days make you feel guilty, here’s your reminder. Rest is not skipping, it’s recovery. It’s when your body repairs, adapts, and actually gets the benefit from your practice. If you go hard every day, your body often stays tired and braced, and that can feel like tightness. A rest day lets your nervous system settle and your tissues recover, so you come back feeling lighter and more open. In April we’re moving into space, and rest is part of that. Save this for your rest day as a reminder. #restday #recovery #resttime #restandrelaxation #easyday socks: @hexxee (AYSEGUL20 for %20off)

signs you need a REST DAY!!! you should already be scheduling in at least 2 days off any workout plan a week but, sometimes our bodies will show us that we need a day off so it’s important to look out for the signs 1. if you’re feeling weaker or more tired during a workout than usual then it’s a sign you need to stop/take a rest day the next day - whether it’s physical or mental fatigue, both are just as important to listen to and respect 2. muscle soreness - DOMS (delayed muscle soreness within the first 48 hours after a workout) can be normal, especially if you’re starting a new regime or returning from a break but beyond this, it’s not normal to constantly be sore!! it’s a sign you either need to change your routine or take more breaks 3. if you’re dreading a workout don’t push through it - you might think we are better off challenging ourselves but this will just tax us and make us develop a negative view of exercise. mental signs are just as valid and important to listen to as physical signs 4. muscle cramps - this is a sign your body is excessively fatigued & your muscles have been overused so take a few days off to recover & rehydrate 5. if your sick don’t workout !! your body is already using more energy to try and fight of the sickness so why fatigue it and put it under even more stress and duress to workout? you will recover much faster if you let you’re self rest 6. less known one but if your resting heart rate rises this can be a sign of our bodies being under stress (like when we are unwell). if for a week you notice it’s about 5+ bpm higher than usual, then it’s a sign to take a break!!! if it doesn’t return to normal after rest speak with your doctor 👩⚕️ hope this helps anyone struggling to allow themselves to rest properly - it’s not okay to constantly be on the go and pushing your body to extremes. rest is productive & your body needs to recover properly to perform !! #restday #restdaysmatter #restisproductive #listentoyourheart

I used to think sleep was just enough for me but rest has way more to it than that! Here are the 6 types of rest I implemented in my life which changed everything: Physical Rest 🛌 Sometimes your body needs more than a workout; it needs recovery. Stretch, nap, or just slow down. It might feel like you’re falling behind but remember a step back is necessary before two steps forward. Mental Rest 🧠 Your mind isn’t a machine. Step away from the noise, read, or take short breaks to reset your focus. Emotional Rest 💙 True rest can come from connection. Spend time with loved ones who make you feel safe, seen, and supported. Social Rest 👥 Not every interaction fuels you. Spend time with people who lift you up, not drain you. Sensory Rest 👁️ Constant screens and noise overload us today especially on social media. Unplug, dim the lights, and let your senses breathe. Purposeful Rest ✨ Sometimes rest is found in alignment. Do things that give meaning like leaning into your creative hobbies or self-reflecting. With love, Sang

Recovery is not separate from performance. It is one of the inputs. If you only rest when you crash, you are already late. Rest on purpose, not only when your body forces you to. Save this if you needed the reminder. #recovery #burnoutprevention #performance #restday #nottensing
