Burmese pythons are built to be big, slow ambush predators – lots of muscle, long naps, and occasional large meals instead of eating all the time. He might look intimidating, but his main hobbies are: finding the warmest spot, conserving energy, and existing as a living conversation starter about large constrictors in captivity, invasives in the U.S., and conservation in their native range. Because of the over breeding, calm demeanor and hardiness of these snakes, abuse is all too common. Misinformation and outdated methods being spread by shopkeepers, breeders and supply shops trying to get a quick buck has caused a domino effect of neglect. We have taken them out of the wild and given them subpar conditions for decades, and because they cant express themselves, it’s been accepted.
