The Cypress College Rising Scholars Program would like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU for all your incredible support of our resilient, ambitious, and innovative Rising Scholars student community this year! 💙💛 This past Sunday (May 18th), we wrapped up the semester with our bi-annual End of the Semester Celebration — and what a celebration it was! Despite it being a Sunday afternoon, nearly 70 students and their families joined us for an afternoon of fun, food, photos, music, and connection.🎉 Huge thanks to Love at First Bite for the delicious pizza. Shoutout to Vickie Espinoza for the fun photobooth setup — hats, sunglasses, and all. 🍕📸🎶 We also celebrated our graduating and transferring students with certificates and padfolios — and we couldn’t be prouder! 👏🏽 This year, some of our Rising Scholars are transferring to: ➡️ CSU Fullerton ➡️ CSU Long Beach ➡️ UC Riverside ➡️ UC Davis ➡️ Cal Poly Pomona We are so proud of you all! 🎓 Thank you to our Rising Scholars Team and volunteers who helped with setup and clean up. And the following individuals for their support in ensuring our Rising Scholars student community feel supported and celebrated throughout their journeys on our campus: Dr. Scott Thayer: Our President gave up his Sunday afternoon to spend with us. You have no idea how much that meant to our students. Dr. Paul de Dios: Since day one of FITE Club, you have been in our corner, supporting our efforts and advocating for our community on Cypress College’s campus! Dr. Troy Davis: Thank you for your continued support and advocacy. So many of our Rising Scholars have a personal relationship with “the Dean” - and we are so grateful for your mentorship and guidance! GNPC Foundation’s Executive Director Engages Scholars in Virtual Meeting Helga JM Boadi, Executive Director, GNPC Foundation, held a virtual meeting with GNPC Scholars nationwide to address their challenges and reaffirm their role as ambassadors of the Foundation’s mission and values. She provided updates on the scholarship program, discussed networking and mentorship opportunities, and outlined scholars’ expectations and responsibilities. She further encouraged them to stay focused, work hard, and pursue their goals with determination. The session allowed the over 2000 scholars who joined online to voice concerns and seek clarifications, which she addressed with professionalism and empathy, leaving participants satisfied with her responses. Another of such fruitful engagements has been scheduled with medical students in Cuba.

Our 2025 New Colombo Plan scholars have commenced their Pre-Departure Training! This training aims to equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary for their upcoming study immersion in the Indo-Pacific. Through workshops and discussions, scholars are going to be gaining insights into cultural awareness, and safety protocols as they prepare for their NCP scholarship program.
