But it bounced off the tips of his fingers, he said, and landed in his hot dog tray. • “I picked it up and, you know, tried to celebrate a bit and I was like: 'Oh, wait. I gotta give this ball to this kid,'” Lanzillotta told CBC News. • He turned around and without hesitation handed the baseball to Derek Rodriguez, who leapt into his arms and burst into tears. • Rodriguez was wearing Judge’s No. 99 on his back. • “After all, he could have just kept or [thrown] it back but instead of doing that he passed the ball to me,” said Rodriguez. • "I said to myself, is that a human being or is that an angel from heaven?" • The pair had met earlier in the night. Lanzillotta said he had been trying to help Rodriguez snag a ball from the Yankees bullpen located below their second-deck seats. • “I’m yelling down to the bullpen — ‘Hey! Throw us up a ball for this kid. Throw us up a ball.’ First inning goes by. Second inning,” Lanzillotta said. “But nobody’s paying attention to us. He’s kind of getting down on himself. • “And I told him: ‘Listen, we’re getting you a ball one way or another. You know that I started using this property long before it was finished. Ironically, it’s far from completed but you can’t really tell because I’m the master of creative concealment. 😂😍 Also I am a hard core adult who appreciates the small things when concrete and vacuums make me this happy. * I’ve only had gravel at our own house.
