When I first started roller derby, I remember a coach or captain or someone say, “If you’re not in derby stance, I’m going to hit you.” Just to prove a point😆😆 As in, you should always be ready to hit and take a hit😇 And that lesson honestly stuck with me forever. I’m not ALWAYS in derby stance hahahaha but I am always aware that I could get wrecked at any moment😂 It’s just how derby works! And that’s what makes it so exciting😍😍 I love that I can hit people AND get hit at any point during a given jam.
