I picked these two massive vases up on marketplace for only $30 each, and they’ve been sitting in our garage for months, waiting for clear skies and a hint of motivation from me 😂 The weather the last few days in Perth has been so nice, and we’ve been cleaning out our garage, so I finally tackled these, and as usual, I wish I did it sooner, because I love how they’ve turned out! For the base of both all I did was use an exterior weather shield paint mixed with sand, because I love the texture it gives, and then I decided I wanted to make the bigger one have a more aged, rustic look to add a bit more interest, and I love it!! I’ve shared how I do this before, but I’ll add it all in below 👇🏽 - use a light base colour (mixed with sand, or baking soda if you’re doing a smaller vase) - while the base layer is still wet (important!) get 3 shades (I used white, beige & brown for more of a natural look) all on a tray and then a damp paper towel - dab the damp paper towel into all 3 paint shades, and blot it all over the pot (by doing this when the base layer is still wet it will help with the blending) - do this as much as you want, the more layers the more “naturally aged” it will look by adding different shades and dimensions and that’s it! ✨ I might eventually give the taller vase an aged look too, but I ran out of time, and my arm was sore haha, so hopefully I get around to it, because I really love the look it gives, AND if you’ve ever looked into buying big ages pots like this, they are in the high hundreds, even thousands 🙃 What do you guys think? Best way to save money in home decor this 2025 ? DIY projects !! I thrifted these vases and decided to give them some extra texture and a new colors. I used tangle twine by @ppgpaints in one and weather wicker by @gliddenpaints . I mixed both colors with baking soda to create the texture. Finally got around to painting my thrifted vases I was hoarding in our room 🤪 I concocted a mixture of paint, baking powder and salt and created some pretty new earthy, textured pottery 😍 there are so many ways to try this method and I love that no two vases will ever look the same! Now I can finally decorate our fireplace that’s been bare since I took down the Xmas decor 😛 Thanks for the inspo @genevavanderzeil and @vintageporch 😘 My recipe: (approximate) 1/4 cup latex paint 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon baking powder More details saved in highlights!
