One thing that really surprised me this year was that everything I learnt to make from scratch used four ingredients or less. It was a quiet reminder that good food doesn’t have to be complicated, and that a lot of what we buy at the supermarket has been made far more complex than it needs to be. I think there’s such a nostalgia with cooking from scratch.. and I also think modern processed food is making us sick. It might take a little longer to cook things from scratch (and is not always an option, we aren’t this way 100% of the time!!
