It’s that time of year where I need to explain how I use my iPhone as a blind person. I honestly couldn’t if companies like @apple didn’t have such a commitment to accessibility over the years. VoiceOver works not only on my phone but on my laptop and watch too. The improvements happen so often and now the next thing we need to figure out is how to tell me what those silly picture comments everyone keeps leaving me but for now I remain in the dark * * #accessibility #tech #howto

How do you see comments if you’re blind? I don’t see your comments, I listen to them. #BlindCreator #Accessibility #VoiceOver #ScreenReader #DisabilityAwareness

One of my favorite apps for blind accessibility. This is an app called Be My Eyes. It initially started as a volunteer service for people to be on video calls with blind people, which still exist but now for Small very quick tasks you can just take a picture and have AI tell you what it is. This is one of the more positive uses of AI. I tried sending it a jazz chart once that didn’t go so well lol

How does a blind person create content on social media? I use VoiceOver Apple’s screen reader to hear every button on my screen. The first tap reads it. The second tap activates it. But unfortunately not every button is accessible. When the capture button isn’t labeled, I have to improvise using the little vision I have and muscle memory. This is what accessibility on social media looks like! #BlindCreator #AccessibilityMatters #VoiceOver #ScreenReader #inclusivedesign

Voice to text is always also an option, but this is how Brennan and Mina prefer to text. It also ensures they have privacy with an AirPod in when they are texting. Video description for our visually impaired friends: Brennan, 21 and blind sits on a leather barstool next to his sister Mina, 17 and blind at their kitchen countertop. Both have iPhones in their hands and demonstrate how they use touch typing and Braille input to send texts. Text reads: how do blind people text? #blind #accessibility #voiceover #braille #apple

😵💫I started losing my vision and for a while, it felt like my future just vanished. Then I realized: I don’t need a screen to keep moving. We built Lumin so you can handle email by voice—calm, fast, and on your terms. Early testing is now open. If you’re blind/low vision (or just tired of fighting your inbox), come try it. Your feedback will have a direct impact on what we build next. For us, community voices aren’t a nice to have, there the whole point! 👉 Sign-up at the link in bio. #blind #lowvision #a11y #accessibility #dyslexic

The way we use emojis is an accessibility issue. Blind and partially-sighted people who use screen readers will have emojis read out according to their Unicode descriptions. There are loads that we use emojis out of context. A few examples: 💦 = sweat droplets 💫 = dizzy 🛜 = wireless 🧏 = deaf person 🧖 = person in steamy room 🤌 = pinched fingers 🤏 = pinching hand 🤯 = exploding head 🥺 = pleading face 💅🏻 = nail polish: light skin tone 😅 = grinning face with sweat 🤘 = sign of the horns 🤳 = selfie 🫨 = shaking face ⏳ = hourglass not done 💪 = flexing bicep 👀 = eyes 🫰 = hand with index finger and thumb crossed 💥 = collision

Life just got a whole lot easier for this blind girl! Once again thanks to @apple and universal design! #accessibility #inovation #airpods #blind #fyp

⚠️ The secret’s out ⚠️ @journalofluke put Lumin into his real routine—and it’s become the fastest way to get through email when the day is stacked. Instead of hunting through threads, digging for attachments, or doom-scrolling his inbox… he just asks Lumin. Lumin was built with the Blind/Low Vision community from day one—voice-first, accessibility-first—and now busy professionals are adopting it for the same reason: it saves time and cuts the chaos. Just like audiobooks and closed captions… when we design for accessibility, we design for everyone. Experience it yourself.
