📖 I’ve been reading on my phone for a while, but it never felt like something I “should” talk about until recently. 📲 First, I added a matte screen protector. Less glare, less “frantic notifications” energy, more of an ebook feel, even when I’m just snatching a few minutes of phone reading here and there. 📲 The second shift was switching my ebooks to Bookshop.org, so my digital reading habit could actually support indie bookstores instead of billionaires. 📚Those two tweaks made phone reading feel intentional instead of gross—and they’re a big part of how I keep up a 2–3 books a month reading life on top of everything else. ❔If you’re curious about trying phone reading this way, which would you start with: changing how your screen feels, or where you buy your ebooks?

I have to admit I spent hours doom-scrolling on Instagram before bed. 📱 It was a habit I couldn’t shake. My sleep quality and time wasn’t good and that was affecting how rested I felt in the day to follow. I had enough of feeling fatigued during the day working on my business and decided I wanted to make a change❗️ So I tried App Limits and Downtime on my IPhone, and putting my phone on the other side of the room. Nothing worked. 😔 I would reverted back to the scrolling. It was so deeply engrained as a habit. You know what finally worked❓ Replacing the bad habit with something that brought me more joy instead. Reading! 📖 I got a Kobo for Christmas and filled it with books that have been on my list for a while. Every night I put my phone on the other side of the room and read instead. It’s something I look forward to in the evenings and I began to do it consistently. It was the fastest way I tried to fix the habit. Last year I read 59 books!! 📚 According to Opal (my favourite focusing app) I got back 3 years of my life that would have been spent on my phone. This hack has been a big part of it. So my friend, what is a habit you have been trying to shake and what is another fun habit you can replace it with? Share 👇🏼

I’m clearly not fine…. This is why I’m building an app (on my own without a development background) because I just can’t anymore with the media chaos! Goodreads over here, Letterbox’d over there, notes app for this, Netflix for that. I need it under one roof where I can track, play, and connect over the entertainment I love. After all - it’s how we do entertainment! 💁🏼‍♀️🍿🎥🎧🕹️📚 Test the pilot, shape the app: app.consumedapp.com #consumedapp #entertainment #movietowatch #booktok

Every reading app tracks the books you finish. I built one for the books you don’t. Meet Bookmarked — born from my bad habit of abandoning books halfway through 😅 Built it with @emergentlabs in minutes, and now it tells me why I stop reading, when to push through, and when it’s okay to quit. Would you use this? 👀

This is scary and nobody’s talking about it. I never felt motivated ENOUGH to change addictive phone my habits until I learned how chronic phone use erodes our sense that life is meaningful in these 4 ways 👆 Learning the science helps — but beyond that, you can just FEEL it, right? ⏰ You can FEEL how time flattens. 🧠 You can FEEL how your ability to focus and integrate experiences is shallow. 🌪️ You can FEEL how life feels like it’s passing by in a blur, instead of a rich, colorful imprint on your memory. Our phones are *designed* to be addictive. And especially if you’re a sensitive person (as many of my followers are), it makes sense that you would be extra sensitive to how your phone affects you—and struggle more to break the cycle. 📚 In my intimate Hustle to Heart Bookclub, we explore how to find meaning and purpose BEYOND the productivity-centric, hustle-centric, distracted culture we’re immersed in. Now enrolling for Jan 2026! 📚 With monthly thought-provoking reads and rich discussion, we support one another as we trade burnout and achievement-chasing for presence, meaning, and vitality. 📚 There are only 20 spaces, so save your spot at the link in my bio. #phoneaddiction #phoneuse #socialmedia #socialmediaaddiction #attention #reclaimattention #digitaldetox #meaning #midlifecrisis #existentialphilosophy #transitions #lifecoach #haileymagee #bookclub Citations: Craik, F.
