So blocking out some time in the gym is vital 🔑 Try this sled/machine drill which is great to replicate the demands of HOOKING whilst maintaining constant PRESSURE 🧠 (No scrum truck, no worries….. Scrum Diaries 002: The Dark Arts The “Dark arts” aren’t about cheating your way through the scrum, it’s about perfecting craft through critical analysis. When you master the scrum, your opposing props mind will go to very dark places… Our Tighthead Set Up. (LH is similar, just opposing legs and arms, left foot forward/right foot back, left arm loading on the bind) As front rowers, set up is crucial. Find your distance, stable foot positioning, feet/ankles aligned with hips and spine angle. On the bind, load through your binding arm whilst holding your weight, find your sweet spot. On the set call, win the hit/space battle by being faster and more dominant. COACHING TIP: Teach scrum shape with bands and transfer it into training under full tension. Fault correct scrum shape until it becomes second nature. Include core, spinal & leg strength.
