I feel like most sewing tutorials show making scrunchies with sewing elastic but personally, I think they're better with actual hair ties 🫣 I use a 5x27 inch piece of fabric for this scrunchie but you can play around with the dimensions depending on how big or small you want the scrunchie to be! Trust me when I say this is the best and cleanest way to make a scrunchie. When I first sew the method I thought it seemed complicated but, when you've done it once it a makes sense and seriously only takes 5 mins! Let’s make the easiest scrunchie! 🪡🤩 (dimensions below) ✂️ Fabric: I used a scrap piece of cotton for mine. Any light to medium weight fabric would work great! (Using heavier fabric can be a little tough with the burrito method 🌯) Note: I cut my fabric 5” wide x 27” long. If you want a thinner scrunchie, make the width smaller. If you want a thiccccc scrunchie, make it wider. Adjust the length if you want it more/less gathered ☺️ 🧵 Elastic: I used .5” wide elastic. Any thin elastic would work! Scrunchies have to be the most useful, economical, sustainable, beautiful (can we think up any more?! 😅) way to use up fabric scraps! Some notes: 🪡 The fabric measurements can be adjusted according to your fabric scraps (ohhh how nice would a patchworked ones be?! Sew a few scraps together! 😍) and made into a fuller scrunchie by cutting the strip wider. 🪡 If you have thicker hair, you may want to add extra length to the elastic. 🪡 In my video, you might have noticed that I sewed the elastic into the seam when I sewed the two ends together. This is an option too- but slightly tricker than just tying it- so up to you! There's a million ways to make a scrunchie, but I find this way the easiest! If you have another method that you think works better, please do share!

How to sew your own double ruffle scrunchie!! I’m so excited to finally share this tutorial with you!! You’re going to scream when you done because it’s SOOO easy!!!
