When you have expectations of people, you will always find disappointment at the end. When you shift the focus and live for the one who created you, everything changes. You think with clarity, you hold no resentment in your heart and can forgive easier, as the affair is no longer between you and people. But between you and your creator. Humans will always disappoint you. No don’t expect anything from anyone. But a life with your creator will provide comfort in storms, warmth in loneliness, peace amongst the chaos and will give you a tranquility and contentment that is beyond what any human could ever give you. I swear if you ever taste this, you will never expect anything from anyone ever again.

Here’s what it actually signals: 🚫 You’re doing your job, nothing more → Leadership doesn’t promote people who “meet” expectations. They promote people who exceed them consistently. 🚫 Your manager isn’t fighting for you → Managers who advocate for people give them top ratings. “Meets expectations” is what they give when they’re not invested. 🚫 You’re not on the promotion track → People on promotion tracks get “exceeds expectations” or “outstanding.” Anything less means you’re not in consideration. 🚫 You’ve been mentally categorised as “staying put” → This rating is what leadership gives to people they want to keep comfortable but stuck. Here’s what to do: Don’t accept it silently. In your review conversation, ask: “I want to understand the gap between ‘meets expectations’ and the rating that would position me for promotion. What specifically do I need to demonstrate to get there?” If they give you concrete, actionable feedback → there’s a path. If they get vague → they’re not planning to develop you.
