Shark finning is a massive issue in today’s world. People are so terrified of sharks but they only kill 5-6 of us per year. We kill 100 million of them per year. Sharks need our help. Share this with your friends and followers to bring awareness to this huge issue that sharks face every day. - - - #sharks #shark #sharkfin #sharkfinning #bansharkfinning #sharkconservation #savethesharks #sharklover #sealife #ocean #blueplanet #conservation #endangered #nature #savetheplanet #savetheocean #marinebiology

Millions of sharks are killed every year for their fins Even gentle whale sharks are hunted even though they are harmless plankton eaters. Sharks are apex predators and keep oceans healthy Shark fins have no nutritional value and cost the lives of marine animals Protect sharks. Protect the ocean ❤️🩹🦈 #sharks #sharkprotection #sharkfinning #apexpredators #marineconservation

Happy International Whale Shark Day!! This was such a special moment in my life to meet my first whale shark joined by the company of some amazing people and on my birthday of all days😍 She had many visible human impacts all over her body including an indent along her back from old ropes, a missing pectoral fin (likely from being entangled in ropes), and even fishing line coming out of her mouth. A story of remarkable resilience that I wish we did not have to tell. The whale shark is listed as endangered by the IUCN red list and is still facing rapid decline. We need to make changes (especially in our industrial fishing practices) to help protect these animals before they are gone forever. If you choose to eat seafood, make sure to support small, local fishermen make sure it is nor coming from a longline or gillnet fishery. Whale sharks are also targeted for their fins for shark fin soup. So by raising awareness and supporting bills and petitions to help eliminate this practice is another huge thing you can do to help protecf them! You can also always minimize seafood consumption as this also helps to eliminate entanglement by reducing the demand for these practices. These beautiful animals will not be here much longer if we continue on the way we are, so change is necessary! @kaimanaoceansafari . . . . . . . 🌊✨ “When I die, I’m coming back as one of these.” 🐋💙 Whale sharks aren’t just giants of the ocean — they’re living legends, mysterious gentle souls that remind us how magical our planet really is. These gentle giants can grow up to 12 meters long and live over 70 years, silently gliding through the oceans while filtering thousands of litres of water for plankton every day. 🦈💧 Despite their size and gentle nature, whale sharks face serious threats from shark finning, bycatch, and habitat loss. Every year, thousands are caught illegally for their fins and meat — pushing these majestic creatures closer to endangered status. If I could come back as anything, this would be it. Imagine the freedom, the endless blue, the calm strength. Let’s protect these incredible creatures and the oceans they call home — because they’re worth fighting for. 💪🐢🌏 Drop a 💙 if you’re with me, and share this to spread the love for our gentle giants. #WhaleSharkVibes #OceanSoul #TaylorXOcean #MoanaMood #SaveOurSeas #MarineMagic #OceanConservation #GiantGentle #ProtectOurOceans #SharkFinning #ViralVibes

Welcome to one minute in my 🤿 life lately Watching the critically endangered scalloped hammerhead shark schooling is just simply #mesmerizing, don’t you think!? No wonder why after each dive, every time I close my eyes I see shark silhouettes… 😍 It is time we change the way we fish and embrace sustainability. Videos by @juansharks and @alexis_underthesea More footage from our rescue attempt of Tara, a female galapagos shark who continuously kept trapping herself in shallow waters and beaching herself. I know this has already been addressed multiple times but moments like these matter. It reminds us how important every single shark life is. Sharks are being killed at a rate of over 100 million sharks A YEAR. That is unacceptable. Some populations have declined by up to 99%. Sharks are so vital to the health of our oceans and do not deserve this injustice humans are placing upon them. Educating and refusing to eat shark fin soup, eating sustainable seafood (or even eating less or no seafood if you do not know how it was caught), not recreationally fishing sharks, and reducing your single use plastic consumption are all ways YOU can help these animals. Unfortunately we were not able to save Tara, but that does not mean that we cannot make change to help sharks globally by making lifestyle changes and being loud activists for them. These are the moments that matter and we are the ones our planet is calling upon to make change. I LOVE this old Tiger Shark Queen Nikki (Ali’i Nikole) Large sharks will sometimes bite props and metal ladders or poles that conduct electricity into the water, usually its an investigatory checkout due to the attraction from the electro-receptive organ called the Ampullae of Lorenzini, an initial check (bump or bite) or two and they usually stop. In this video I gently lift her nose so she doesn’t run into the boat, but as you can see she still bites the ladder to test it out. This is why we require people to keep their GoPro’s and small electronics on poles, away from their hands, in case a smaller species wants to hone in on the electrical output. Larger species are actually easier to deter with a gentle redirection but of course ***Disclaimer***Please dont attempt to replicate, and if you are in the water and a large shark approaches you, please push down on top of the head, dont apply any pressure below the nose or snout as you can see the natural reaction is to lift away from the pressure and I needed to do this to keep her from running into the ladder, we trimmed the engines up and after a couple checks went back in to have a beautiful dive where Ali’i Nikole (Queen Nikki) was actually quite shy once she saw us looking around at her.
