Some of our fall shearings are coming through the mill now. First batch is from Rasta, our Cotswold. Cotswolds are long wooled sheep, offering strong, durable fibre. To soften it a bit, we've added in 20% alpaca. This is as local as it gets, with the majority of the fibre sourced on our own property, and the alpaca from Vernon-area farms. 🐑 #shelterwoodfibreco #yarnfarming #canadianwool

The baby Angora rabbits get their first shearing when they are 3-4 months old. It’s super important for this to be a positive experience for them, because it will set the standard for all future shearings. Kits of this age are still quite curious; you can see Dominic is moving around a fair amount, distracted by all of the unfamiliar sights. Last sunday @ Turbodogs Supercup we said goodbye to the Shearings. We had a Bfb farewell heat on Belgian soil  for the Shearings and this amazing family was send home, gifted with a supply of Belgian beers and cheese and an amazing young dog Choonaka given the foundation training to become a future flyball star. Our own trainings will be way safer from now on without the snapping Choonaka 🐊 🤣 Juddy and Melissa and the amazing pack of dogs Kookachoo aka Choo Choo train, Jellybags and Dingerbell will be truely missed in our ranks. 4 years of an incredible friendship and flyball adventure after a strange email  from a UK flyballer 🇬🇧 moving to Belgium for his job and sollicitating to race and train with Roadrunners. As always Roadrunners are into an adventure and we welcomed the Shearings into our flyball pack. The past 4 years have been an incredible ride and the Shearings were a perfect match with the rest of the team. Foreigners became friends and flyball family and all of this resulted in amazing results from European records to World records from Belgian champs to Crufts, EFC and FOWC victories. Kookachoo became the only dog in the world to hold the title of BFA in- and outdoor champ - Belgian Champ - European Champ - FOWC world champ, Crufts Champ and helped to set our 14,15 sec world record. We will all remember and cherish the moment Kookachoo became totally unexpected in the morning a Beep beep 27,5 cm/11" height dog. Without any training over this jump height we went out there and raced a 14,27 sec team, European and Fci world record 🔥⚡️. The Shearings... always part of our story. Letting the red and blue tagged sheep out of the yards as they won't be shorn until next month as they weren't shorn until January last year. We'll do a couple 11 month shearings to get them back in line with everyone else but luckily polwarths will still have over 100mm. Also need to do some pellet training with the reds particularly as they were covid lambs so aren't as friendly as the older sheep. #sheep #blacksheep #sheepfarming
