Meet Roy 🤍 Some stories start in the scariest way… Roy was found unconscious on the side of the road — tiny, still, and in a critical state. For a while, we truly didn’t know if he would make it. That’s why we held off introducing him. We were guarding our hearts… and his. But this little fighter had other plans. Against the odds, Roy slowly began to wake up. Then he started feeding. Then snuggling. And now… he’s doing the sweetest, cheekiest things — like sucking on his joey friend’s ear for comfort 🥹 Because that’s what babies do when they finally feel safe. From fighting for his life… to stealing ears and hearts. Welcome to our world, brave boy. We’re so glad you stayed 🤍 #meetroy #wildliferescue #kssa #joeyrescue #Babykangaroo

Yesterday we welcomed a very special new joey into care. Meet Sampson, a 9½-month-old Western grey male who was found orphaned in our local area. He’s been lovingly raised for the past 3 months by a fellow wildlife carer, and now he’s come to us to grow up safely in our forever home sanctuary, where he’ll have the time, space and care he needs. At 9½ months old, Sampson weighs just 4.5kg and still has a long road ahead. He will be bottle-fed for approximately another 10 months until he is fully weaned. Welcome gorgeous boy ❤️🦘

Tilly… Every single morning… without fail 🥹 We walk in and there she is. Little miss Tilly, tucked into her hanging bag, tiny head peeking over the edge… Sucking her pouch. Watching us. Waiting so patiently for her bottle like the most polite little lady 💕 No cries. No fuss. Just those big eyes saying, “Um… excuse me… milk service please?” 🍼 How did we get this lucky? #wildlife #wildliferescue #rescuejoey #Sanctuary #KSSA

Oh my Goodness! Meet little tiny ‘MJ’ our adorable teeny-weeny Bennett’s wallaby. MJ was found abandoned in one of our large habitat enclosures, separated from her Mother, cold and alone. Rest assured, MJ will be taken care of and will return to her mob when older. What a cutie-pie 😍 #care #love #adore #bekind #kangaroo

Our sweet orphans Mooshka and Walu 💕 For our orphans to survive and thrive, it’s important they be snuggled together for the warmth, heartbeat and breathing of one another. And critically for the company they’d have 24/7, as they would have from their mum.

Meet Mouse 🐾🤍 Mouse was one of those macropods who melted hearts instantly. Smoochy, cuddly and full of trust. After her time in care, Mouse was released back into the wild and is now thriving in her natural environment 🌿 And the best part We believe Mouse may be expecting her first baby 🦘✨ This is exactly why we love soft release. Soft release allows animals like Mouse to return to the wild while still having access to a familiar, safe space if they need reassurance or support as they adjust. It gives wildlife confidence, choice and the best possible start to life back where they belong. We give them a helping hand, every step of the way 💚

Stop scrolling 🛑. This is the serotonin hit you didn’t know you needed 😍. We caught baby Basil and little Ari mid-snuggle 🫂 and honestly… our hearts melted 💕. Two koala joeys 🐨🐨, wrapped up together, finding comfort in each other after everything they’ve been through. It’s these quiet, tender moments that remind us why wildlife rescue matters so much 💚 Adorable? Absolutely. But also resilience, friendship, and a whole lot of healing in one tiny cuddle 💗

Maybelle seems to have life all mapped out 😂 Thanks to Tilly our awesome team member who came up with this one. I think Maybelle is hilarious don’t you? #life #love #care #bekind #empathy

This is why it’s so important that we buddy these little orphans as soon as we can. These babies have a huge need for body contact to replicate what they would have with their mum. Although they would be at the end of their pouch days they would still be right next to their mum for many hours every day. You can see the comfort they get from each other. But “we’re gonna need a bigger bed” very soon 😂

💔 Struck. Abandoned. But not alone. 💔 Sangria was hit by a car 🚗 that sped off from a red light 🚦. Witnesses watched as the driver kept going. No stopping. No checking. Just gone. Thankfully 🙏 Sangria’s story did not end there. A kind-hearted couple scooped her up and rushed her straight to our clinic, where she was immediately placed in an oxygen tent due to serious concerns about her breathing. Sangria has a fractured jaw and lung contusions, making every breath a struggle right now 🫁. She was started on IV fluids and pain relief to treat shock while we sought specialist advice. Her prognosis was described as guarded, but because she is under two years old, it was agreed she deserves a chance ✨ And what a little fighter she is 💪🐨 Sangria is already enjoying her eucalypt smoothies 🍵 and has even started eating leaf 🍃 on her own. Absolute trooper. Next steps are complex. Sangria will need to see a specialist dentist 🦷, but only once her lungs are stable enough to travel. Not all fractured jaws can be repaired, but due to the location of the break, there is still hope for this brave girl 💚 Please send Sangria some love ❤️, strength 💫, and positive vibes as she continues her fight. Stories like hers are why stopping, checking, and calling for help can make all the difference.

💔 In Loving Memory of Sylvester 💔 Sylvester was an at-foot joey who was found hanging upside down in a fence. From the moment he arrived, we were hopeful. We believed that, in time, the injuries to his little foot might heal. But today, X-rays revealed the truth we feared most — Sylvester had a severely dislocated hip. We so desperately wish this was an injury we could fix. Sadly, despite trying in the past, we have never had a successful outcome with this type of trauma. The kindest decision — the only decision — was to let him go peacefully, free from pain. We only had Sylvester in our care for one day… but he completely stole our hearts. He was incredibly sweet. He loved giving kisses. And he loved a bottle full of warm milk. I feel deeply sad and disappointed that I couldn’t save him. I feel as though I let him down. After 20 years of kangaroo rescue, I still cannot help but cry when these decisions must be made. I try to hold it together… but I always fail. If we cannot take their pain away, we will do the next best thing — we will take away their suffering. Sylvester deserved to have his story known. He deserved to be loved. And he always will be. Run free, beautiful boy 🤍🦘 #wildliferescue #inlovingmemory #kangaroorescue #joeyrescue #kssa
